Hi Dave,
who could forget you?!! You were so lucky though I don't suppose any of us realised it at the time - being young and as such, invincible. I has a similar nasty experience when one of my hydraulic rams snapped when I was dumping and I so very nearly went over. It took me about half an hour to get out of the truck because my legs were shaking so much. If you want to know who any of the photos are drop a line on facebook and I'll provide you with names!
Jane. |

| Wow, what a trip! I lived in Goldsworthy from 1977 to 1979, went to Goldsworthy Primary then off to Swanleigh to highschool. Lived next door to the MacNamarras on Strelly, and on another street that the censor won't let me write down (*oongan Street) as well. Trained for the Flying Fleas but never made the team - not much of an athlete I'm afraid. Remember the long runs out to the airstrip, and the salt tablets and penetrene :-). Mr Overman was the principal, and my mum was the office lady, Merilyn Daniels, for a while. Dad, Ray, was Fire Officer. Remember the outdoor cinema and the pool, swimming club, hot days, long walks out the back of town, spinnifex............. ahhhhh what a childhood! Thanks for the memories, there was some stuff I'd forgotten, like the Tigers trips to Shay Gap, and the De Gray river flooding, cyclones..........scary! Good luck to all. |

| Wow this is cool! I was in Shay Gap from 85 to the end. Great place for when the kids were young. I'd love to know where everyone is now. Lived in Perth, Blue Mountains and Adelaide Hills since we got booted out. Wouldn't believe how many people I've met that know someone that lived/worked in Shay Gap at some stage. Still miss the place... |

| i lived in shay gap in the early to mid 70's, worked in the post office and in the mine site as a maintenance clerk, and lived in the double story flats. played softball and loved it. my husband drove one of the macks and the tea lady truck. still have great memories of the people there. i've been googling for ages, couldn't work out where the two towns had gone! i didn't know they had been abandoned. now living in tasmania. |

towns were carted off and it went back to nature!
Was just talking; to my BIL who is over from the US-he's Australian-and was talking about before; when he was there and , used to cart the concrete from Hedland to lay some of the orignal pads; wasnt anything else there then.
Also to Karratha and for the Yule and Turner bridges. |

| Hi Yank, I was told of this board today by Christine Sinclair (nee Lehman)and blow me down I come across you and Fatboy. I missed out on a small get together which I am sure you would have liked to have attended with Fatboy, Stroppy Mick, Mad Micky Muir, Hank Schruers, Alan & Christine Sinclair, Ron Stobbie and I think Alan Cornell. Hank put it together. I live in the Kalgoorlie area now, went underground for about 30 years. Great to hear from you, should try and keep in touch. Best Regards Peter Sloane |
