You sand gropers do understand you can't drink Desalination water, it must be blended with your normal town water supply.

Desalination water has a TDS & conductivity level above WHO standards.

'desalination, okay if that is so substainable why isn't perth building the second one in it's backyard.'

-falnoc4

The same reason very little ever gets done here. How come there are so many places, all over the world, that manage to implement proper water management 'systems', yet we constantly lag?

I would mention waste water reclamation as a viable solution also, but I've a feeling some might be too precious for that.

And, to bring it back on topic, in any case, lack of resources IS NOT an valid excuse for our lack of development in and around the city (including population, entertainment/culture, retail, vibrancy, etc.)

Public opinion, for some stupid reason, seems to weigh heavily against waste water reclamation as well.

waste water reclamation permeate also has to be bleeded but not because it is above WHO standards but because constant use ( drinking ) of RO permeate is not good for human consumption as it has not bad cr@p in it that our body are used to.

Wonder what some of the posters on here would do on camping holidays or even living in the country!

-No 24hr shops should they run out of milk & Bread.

-Nobody else to keep them constantly entertained and stop them being 'boring'

-Nowhere to spend their money.

......No lack of 'vibrancy' complain about-
Except their own!!

you learn to adapt, box of long life milk in cupboard, a fresh loaf of bread frozen, bread maker, prepare meals in advance always got three complete meals cooked and frozen and guess what? the big one "self reliance".

plus some bait in back freezer, anyone want a squid for dinner? no, okay what about a fresh flounder.

heehee

Which is precisely why I don't, or never will, live in the country.

If you want your country lifestyle, hey, go to the country...we have plenty of THAT. Just let us have our city, and stop trying to make it a glorified country town.

Fair enough. Me, I'm actually living in London at the moment...and will be here at least until the end of the year before returning to Perth.

I moved over with my brother. Don't know anyone here, didn't have a job lined up, nor did I have a place to live lined up.

You're right though. No guts...

Meanwhile, as much as we 'lack guts', the point remains. You enjoy the country, that's awesome, I'm happy for you. Now leave us our city to, you know, keep and develop as a city (the capital of this state).

jay i agree with you about pert, my problem is that all this money is used, (and it is all western australian people's money) for bloody perth.

how much o we have to take from the rural areas for perth??

how much do the residents of perth need????

a reliable electricity and communication service would be nice. don't get me started on health and support sevices. heehee

how is the train service??
