Munich should be No 1, why?
awesome beer festivals!
Perth wouldn't know a decent beer fes if it bit it in the backside. |

Definately stating facts- not whinging
Funny how its always some old fart who is saying everything is so wonderful here- I guess it must be when u spend your whole life looking backwards with nostalgia
Sorry old dudes- most of us have to live in the here and now
Most people now are struggling with high rent and mortgage costs- oh but I forgot u got your house for a bargain years ago
I drive to City everyday for work down the Mitchell Freeway- ever been there during Peak Hour? (which actually goes for about 2 and half hours) Obviously u dont otherwise u wouldnt keep banging on about "relaxed lifestyle"
I dont have a problem dealing with city traffic- but please stop making Perth sound like some friendly small town - it is'nt
Guess u dont have small kids as well right?- when ever anyone on these blogs describes their horror at the law and order problems in Perth- the same little group come on and shout us down - calling us whingers e.t.c-
Actually- all we are doing is looking out for our kids and their futures- I like Perth- but my kids are more important than some bull@@@@ patriotism- if Perth is not measuring up in some aspect of life- we call it as it is- we call a spade a spade- were not scared of giving out criticism when it is merited- unlike u old boys
I mean- look at the paper today- 50 rock attacks on buses in northern beaches area alone in past month- one of which last weekend could have killed a young girl
-
50 in a month in one area of Perth?! That would have to be worse than some council estate area in U.K- but hey we have beaches! Im sure that will be of great comfort to the relatives of any victim in the future
A whole area of Perth (south east metro) is known as the meth corridor- ice epidemic in Perth has been likened to crack epidemic of late 80s in USA- but hey were different somehow- we have beaches
Basically my point is - yeah Perth "looks" like a great place but it has many problems and pretending they don ... |

What's this about an Ice Epidemic?
I know it gets a little chilly in the mornings in Perth in June, but it's really not all that cold.
I don't have a problem with crack either. I shower daily and I keep it nice and clean and free of any fungal problems. |

You know, there a million things which suck about perth.
But it's still such a great place, for the sole reason that I live there. |

Yep. Lots of quiet, small country towns out in Western Australia.
So let's allow Perth to develop into the vibrant, beautiful capital city we know it can be and stop stifling it's actual potential. |

I know tickfen- thats the million dollar question is,nt it?!
I feel sad that Im at the stage where Im thinking about leaving here for a better life - never thought I would have to consider it - but I think its fair to say Perth is in a slide - and with each year I cant see things improving
Im not thinking of crime most of the time when I think that staying here wont be good for my kids- Im usually thinking of career prospects (so many people have to leave here to chase their dreams) & quality of facilities- I mean C'mon my kids will probably be middle aged by the time we get everything a decent sized capital city deserves!
I,ve seen a bit of Brisbane and am considering that- also have family connections in Edinburgh- so a bit more of a radical option- but really enjoyed my time there
In my perfect scenario I would stay here- but things have to start coming good pretty soon- so no Im not some whinger- whinging for the sake of it- just a frustrated Perth resident looking out for my kids |

jay, you can't increase perth anymore. it is at it's limit.
perth has run out of resources and perth can't keep pinching it from other areas that are more productive.
people will have to get used to less facilities or move. |

You're joking right? Yeah, you must be.
Do you know what is a drain on resources...ever expanding suburbs. Perhaps if we concentrate on mixed used development in and around the city, we might have a better path to sustainability.
But please, let's not say 'Perth is at it's limit'. |

Lack of water is a problem, so forward thinking is needed to work around. Desalination, less suburban expansion etc.
'Lack' of resources is simply an excuse for lack of innovation and forward thinking. |

I could not believe this heading,
Perth is a very nice place to visit (for a short time). The people are nice an friendly in a Amish sort of way.
It is not liveable for long periods, it is a boring, souless city.
I truly feel sorry for the many people who become trapped in that city and cannot escape.
I feel sorry for the people born there, who never manage to escape, to live, work and die in such a meanless way, supporting a heartless boring town like Perth. No way.
Nice place for a weeks holiday though, except it does get dark early and the shops still probably shut on a sunday, I suppose. |
