dont think I would bother-we cant even get WIN since they cut the power down and both GWN and ABC are also RS; when we can get them-so cant see digital being any better.
Pretty poor show; when reception has declined by about 75% over 20 years!!
And this is supposed to be the electronic age!
At least on our TV ;Susanah Carr looks like a young girl without wrinkles!
ABC keeps advertising the new 9 FTA channels-give them a ring!Ask to speak to one of the techies. |

Digital television might cost Bunbury's Perth reception
BUNBURY residents may no longer enjoy watching metropolitan television stations once digital television is launched.
Television City Bunbury owner Gary Russell said because the signal is not meant to go past Mandurah and can be effected by wind and temperature, it would be difficult for viewers to receive the signals.
“They may be able to catch some signal, but not enough to create a digital picture,” Mr Russell said.
Mr Russell said residents would have the same problems if new digital only stations were broadcast from Perth.
So far only one additional digital commercial station is planned for regional WA.
Networks GWN and WIN have joined together and applied to the Australian Communica-tions and Media Authority to bring the third station.
The station would air Ten programming.
ACMA is still considering the third station and when it would start broadcasting.
Digital signals of regional networks GWN and WIN are not expected in Bunbury until November next year.
WIN General Manager Ian McRae said WA is the last region for WIN to roll out the service and so far the process cost the network about $350 million.
Mr McRae said it was the intention of GWN and WIN to start the third service at the same time the stations go digital.
To watch digital television you must have a digital set-top box or digital television.
The analogue signal will be switched off by ACMA in 2013.

Sort of an answer-
but does not say whether its GWN OR WIN that will get the digital. |

how about ; instead of another channel-they just upgrade the signal for the staions we already have; so we can at least see them- at present it is shite!
We got far better reception 20 years ago-we didnt even need a booster box then and could also pick up Perth stations quite often; if the weather was good!
Since WIN went down a while ago-they dont seem to have bothered to boost their signal up to normal capacity again.
I suppose it saves them money that way!Oh well-they only broadcast shite anyway!
They seem to want to force everyone who isnt in close range-to buy sattelite dishes.
And then theres digital radio-whoppee.!!
We are 150 ks from Perth and only get 2 ABC stations.
Not really interested in commercials-but getting a clearer reception on the local would help and be nice to get ABC news station as well.
Bet if you were in any other city or country-150 ks from the main city-you would have better TV and radio reception.
And the amount of times; and length of times-they are all off the air is astounding-bet it wouldnt happen in Perth-people would be up in arms-we just have to wear it; till they send someone out to check in office hours!
Then takes forever to fix!
Dont get much for our 8cents a day-someone else seems to be getting the lions share of it! |

I was informed that GWN and WIN had to release their digital TV signal in Bunbury by 30th June 2009, and if they didn't they could lose the right to broadcast digitally in WA.
My source was a man who has read extensively on the topic and is well informed ... does anyone know if this is the case?
Also the digital transmitters have apparently been built already in the South West but GWN and WIN just haven't turned them on yet. Is this also true?? |
