There has not been a secessionist movement or party in WA since the late 70's when Lang Han_ock had something going.
It takes 500 people to register a new party - http://www.waec.wa.gov.au/pp_candidate/political_p arty_registration.php#Elig.
The revised electoral laws do not allow individuals who are running for election who are not members of a party to use anything other than Independant on a ballot paper (it used to be you could use anything so long as it was not offensive).
It's time to stop the rip off.
Any takers to become members of a new party? |

| How about taking half the country, NT and SA. Bring back the death sentence and ban all drugs and Victorians. |

If this is honestly what the bankrupt east thinks of us then it has to be time to leave, close the border to immigration from the East (incl Kiwi's) and watch them all sink in to the mire.
Victoria has been leaching out of the federal government more than it puts in for many a year and where has that money come from - us! |

WA people could not run a chook raffle never mind a country. The lack of development and the reluctance for any sort of change would see WA bankrupt very quickly.
If the WA people had their way the navy would still have sailing ships, there would be no airforce and the army would still be on foot or on horse.
Sorry guys but the idea of the recalcitrant people of WA leading themselves is hilarious.
I assure you that people of ALL political persuasion over here, would have a good laugh at the even the thought of WA going alone. |

Granted we have had some pretty poor leaders since Charles Court but we could not go bust if we kept all our money. It's high time we paid cabinet politicians serious money to attract a better standard of person to the positions. Note a cabinet minister in WA need not actually be in the parliament or so I understand. Some of the nations richest people are from WA.
Development is hampered by the fact 70% or more of the money we give to the federal government keeps the cinderella states like Victoria, Qld, Tas, SA and NT from going bust overnight. Yet we still managed to build the highway to Bunbury, the railway line to Mandurah and the new Perth Arena and Fiona Stanley hospital are also underway. Sure we could do with more but where would the money come from unless we kept what we make?
NSW was also in the black but these days I think is evens and will soon also drop in to the red and Qld and NT might, operative word, due to resources, go in to the black for the first time ever in the next few years.
Why on earth do we want an Airforce or Army? We could declare neutral and be ambassadors for peach, like Switzerland, and keep a reasonably well trained reserve force going just in case. We could also charge the rest of the nation rent for keeping bases on our soil.
Laugh all you want but its our bl00dy money you lot spend/waste and its high time it stopped. |

Sorry guys, WA secede, it will never happen.
The indonesians and the chinese would take over in months.
The WA people do not have the foresight to run a country. Even running a very small population as state is beyond them.
Perth is known as the bogan capital of australia and dullsville. The eastern states have been dragging WA along into the future for years. |

Wrong again, Indon can not invade - it's not possible and China pretty much, along with India, owns us economically anyway.
Invasion is an impossibility it would be too simple to hold an invader above a pre determined line then have the navy or airforce cut the supply line off similar to the Russian tactics against Napoleon and then the germans in WW 1 and 2.
Dullsville I'll agree with but the removal of some red tape will fix that.
We have one town only in the Bogan top 10 - Rockhingham. Believe me they come across as well educated compared to people from Ipswich and Toowoomba! If we have bogans its because money that could make our education system the best in Aussie is being spent/ wasted by the bankrupt east. We can easily run ourselves there are some very talented people here and some of Australias richest people such as Stokes and Forrest are from WA.
Dragging us along - no. Dragging us down by blowing all our dough - yes. |

Have to partiall agree but for many years the east kept WA going, once the mining boom is over it will revert back. Also Forrest did not do a good job with Murrin and only the Chinese are helping him now.
Most of WA's high flighers were born elsewhere.
Dragging us along - no. Dragging us down by blowing all our dough - yes.
Again partially agree but the dough is wasted by State goverments, we do not need them. State parliments should be closed down and the pollies feeding out of the trough made to get a proper job. |

Having been on another project with the company that built Murrin the faults are many fold. Penny pinching, by Anaconda, was the main one. It was a very messy situation all around.
Tend to agree about state governments being a waste of space. Almalgamating a lot of the local councils and giving them great levels of responsibility might not be a bad idea.
Changing the whole electoral system would be better so our local Mayor becomes the member of parliament.
Even if the actual boom causing the construction work ends the income from it all will not. |

Gero hasn't got much in the way of money either but will soon have a new port and may become a steel mill city - we'll see the jury has been out on that for years.
Karratha or Port Hedland (PH is far worse than Gero) could become the capital of a split WA. |

Gee whiz, here we go again, budget cuts, services cut, state taxes and charges up and people losing their jobs.
When will we wake up and walk away from the Federation we were forced in to in the first place and stop propping up the bankrupt east?
Time to leave, time to leave NOW. |

| Actually if WA were to secede, the inbreeding would get worse as most of the bogans could not afford a passport and would travel even less than they do now. |

These figures are nearly 4 years old. Total tax take. My understanding is that we are now even worse off than we were and that will get even worse when some of these new mega projects kick in. Also NSW has dropped well back and is probably now at or approaching break even, the Vics are at break even or in the Red and Qld may, in the coming years due to big LNG projects, actually go in to the black for once.
The Vics in '79 or '80 accused us of being a Cinderella state and did so again this week.
I wonder how they would feel if Cinderella stopped contributing to the ball! |
