| Time we went. We were forced to accept Federation and, if I recall correctly, WA does not feature in the Aust constitution. WA has been keeping the rest afloat for years we do not need them. Free ourselves of these leaches and we could be like Dubai in 5 years - personal tax free and with more money than even a far left Labor government could spend. |

Why should we have daylight saving? Just to humour the bankrupt east? We trade almost entirely with China and India. China same time zone and why put ourselves one hour further away from India?
7 day trading I do agree with and it will come in fits and starts. 7 or 9 pm closing on all weekdays will be a good start and we having limited 7 day trading now which at one time we did not have at all. |

why waste money on defence? It is only war machines. Australia and a separate Western Australia are not "invadable" too many logistical nightmares. We could also be ambassadors for peace across the globe like the Swiss.
Jay - how would we sink we shove over $5bn a year in to the Feds and get only $2bn back. That extra $3bn could do some wonderful stuff for WA why should our hard earned keep others going who fritter theirs away - eg NSW? |

How could WA ever secede when the main subjects in WA are:
1. Daylight savings - thought this was done and dusted in May of this year??
2. Perth is not dullsville
3. Dump truck operators!!
Wow this board definitely highlights the ability of West Aussies to identify real issues and that the big topics would be covered if WA seceded!! |

Napier is correct, West australians wouldn't even change their underwear if they did not have to.
It is sort of cute having this amish type society to go and visit now and again (for short visits only) I really do like the westies, they are actually quite pleasant people. In a very strange sort of way. |
