you are telling us-you have actually punched and kicked people in the head thousands of times and you yourself have recieved thousands of blows to your head in that time.
With boots on or off-with steel bars, lengths of wood or bottles or bricks.
Or do you just punch people in the head or face or jaw?
and you dispute the fact ,that a blow to the head will kill you-I think you need to talk to some doctors in hospitals-who deal with these injuries.
Ever wondered why they insist bike riders wear helmets??-for decoration maybe? |

I certainly do. As is often testified to in court in these cases, it's not the punch that kills them, it's when they fall back and hit thier head on concrete. You could get the same effect by pushing someone in the chest, especially if they are drunk at the time.

You can't seriously be comparing the forces involved in a bike crash to a smack in the head. Can you?!???! |

Quote from ABC news article:
The Law Society of WA says proposed new one-punch laws are a knee-jerk reaction and will undermine the current legislation.
Hylton Quail from the Law Society says the Northern Territory had a similar law which did not work so it was repealed and returned to regular manslaughter laws.
He says there are serious concerns about the proposal.
"These sort of knee-jerk responses really to particularly tragic cases don't make good law," he said.
"You know good law comes out of consideration of the existing law getting a Law reform Commission to look at the possibilities and alternatives, which they've done here and they haven't supported an amendment, a new charge of dangerous conduct causing death. They think it's a bad idea." |

| i personally know and grew up with the 24 year old spoken about in this case and he is a good dude he would never intentionally hurt anyone and has a good heart everyone is quick to point fingers but thats what judges and jurys get paid for let the matter be dealt with in court and i pray my friend gets a fair trial due to all the negative media coverage in the 15 yrs i have known this 24 yr old he has never once punched somebody or had any major physical altercations why now why that night i have no doubt he was absolutely provoked into doing so and was defending himself |

| I wonder how much of a "good dude" he would be if it had been your brother he had killed bdeeler? There is NO good or heart in people like him! The fingers are pointed at him because he killed James then ran away and hid like a little mouse..yep, that's what you call a good dude with a good heart...I think NOT! He knew what he was doing and he will pay the price unfortunately it won't be enough. He wasn't fair to James and his Family the night he killed him so why the hell should he get a fair trial? I very much doubt it was the first time he had punched someone either but hopefully it'll be the last for a very long time, there is no punishment good enough for mongrels like your so called friend. Tell me now, how the hell was he defending himself when he is still breathing and James is not? Maybe James might had have a chance to defend himself if he had of seen what was coming. We'll be seeing him in court and praying he gets the maxium. R.I.P James now there was a GOOD MAN WITH A GOOD HEART!!! |

Shouting at people on a message board-does not help get your message over-it just makes it harder to read.
As does ;not breaking it down or calling people names and insulting them.
More likely to turn others away from reading your opinion-even if it is relevant!
That is really rotten about your Dad and I hope he suffers no physical ill effects in the end-tho the emotional ones will be hard to deal with.
Unprovoked attacks should always be harshely dealt with-I hope they have caught the perpatrator. |

"it's not the punch that kills them, it's when they fall back and hit thier head on concrete."
The punch still leads to their death, indirectly or not.
And one punch can kill, depending on where the blow is received.
There are a lot of blood vessels in the head that can be ruptured leading to haemorrhage.
The force of the blow can snap the head around causing damage to the cervical spine and spinal cord, leading to death.
One punch can kill.
People need to be in control of themselves and how they express their aggression. One split second loss of control can ruin the rest of their life and that of many others. |

Example:
Seventeen cases are reported in which fatal subarachnoid haemorrhage was associated with injury to the upper cervical region. Most of these cases were alcohol-intoxicated, most had sustained their injuries in an altercation, and death was usually but not invariably rapid. It is proposed that trauma to the upper cervical region can cause subarachnoid haemorrhage, by a mechanism involving tracking of blood into the subarachnoid space from a damaged vertebral artery or one of its branches.

I stand by what I, and others with half a brain, have always said.
'One punch' legislation is stupid. |
