but emubit....on another thread, WA is attracting all these new people from the east coast cos they are lovin' our daylight saving!!!!......excuse me while I barf.
I think it's more likely that no one can find reasonably priced accomodation and sleeping on the beach is all they can do until they run like the clappers out of here!

All we need in this great state, is some politicians with intelligence and flair. I know where do you get such rare creatures? Get rid of all these halfwits, and employ some real smart business people to run the state, thats how. Anyway life is what you make it.You could live in Antartica and have a good time. It's all a matter of choice.

Do you know what the word parochialist means? You are one of them, and that is exactly why Perth is renowned as being Dullsville because it is made up of the most parochial people on the planet.

Before assuming to know anything about me, I suggest you find out some facts. The only narrowminded people in WA are the ones who can't see the forest through the trees.

I have an awesome picture of, I think Hay Street Mall (maybe the other?), on a Sunday at 5.05PM. It's a ghost town. Very, very depressing.

I was also at the beach that day - was rather dead there also...

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
I think the problem is that original and innovative forms of entertainment are not as widely accepted or embraced in Perth compared to other cities in Australia. People are a little wary of something different and new.

Something like Draculas on the Gold Coast could work in Perth (but would it?), or like the ice bar in Sydney (Perth is hotter than Sydney isn't it?), or how about something like a Federation Square in Melobourne??

Bet you can all name several things to do, see or be entertained by in most capital cities of Australia, how many in Perth do you think those outside Perth could mention?? (Burswood, WACA, Subiaco Oval, Freo perhaps, and ..... Margaret River, that's near Perth isn't it)

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
There is always an excuse mintie boy, no matter what kind of entertainment idea is floated. Sport is a huge attraction, (like it or not)and we lost Rally Oz, someone floated the idea of the V8 supercars becoming a road race instead of Barbagallo raceway in Wanneroo, but, alas, revheads are not acceptable in Perth. Forget the millions of dollars and the crowds of people it could generate in a weekend. I really don't think they want people to actually be in the city. whether it be sporting, entertainment, cultural or just tourists.
I love Melbourne, even at 3am (arriving from Perth) it was alive! but you can keep Sydney...sorry...lol

At the end of the day, Perth is the end of the road in more ways than geographical.

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
I haven't had time to catch up on every post here, but I have just returned to the UK after my few weeks holiday in Perth. What is the problem with everyone and Perth? I guess that a lot of these people who say Perth is boring haven't lived anywhere else. Or are hankering for their home town and looking at it through rose tinted spectacles.

Perth is a loveley city. I find it clean and pleasant. I find the local people friendly and chatty. I always find enough to do, even if it is going for a walk in the park on a Sunday afternoon.

What do people want to do? Party 24/7? Been there, done that, and I can assure you that quickly becomes boring too.

I have travelled around a bit and out of countries visited and cities lived in Perth is my favourite. I would happily swap places with someone who wants to come and live in the UK.

As I said in an earlier post here, open your eyes, get off your backsides and see what your beautiful city has to offer.

Having lived in Western Australia and Perth all my life, I would like to see a little positive change before I go to my grave! Make no mistake, i don't want to live anywhere else in the world, however, with only a set of balls ooops Bells...and a giant cockroach shape thing on our foreshore.

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
Why do we have to go out somewhere to have fun. Here in Perth we like to play sports or just wind down with a few friends a couple of drinks and a bbq.

As far as i'm concerned...you make your own fun!
