Is this thread still going? If you think Perth is so dull get a life. Many, many pages back I posted about 3dozen attractions and activities to do in and around Perth.
Life is what you make it, who wants it to be dull? Not I.
Get out there and do something. If you like DLS then in your mind you have even more daylight to do it in so get out there. Of course there is no extra daylight hours so it is con, but if you've bought the con and think it's great, then get out there and use the "extra" time and have some fun. It is possible, I manage to have heaps of fun here.

I cant believe this thread is still going either! Its been nearly a year now!

Still stand by everything i said in the origonal post....
Perth is great, there is heaps to do... just not in the city itself!
(I am not really a city person, so that suits me just fine).
Its a shame in some respects, but on the other hand it is good as it encourages people to get out and live a bit.... not just go clubbing and shopping.

-Again summer brings a never ending flurry of art and music festivals... too many to list.
-the Hopman Cup is wrapping up
-XXX beach cricket at Scarb which starts this weekend. Good fun!
-Freo launch the Round The World Yacht Race on the 2nd and 3rd of jan,
-Busselton have the lifesaving comp

Theres heaps to do over these next few weeks, so make the most of it!

Hope everyone had a good New Years!!!

There are plenty of things to do!!!

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
What an utterly stupid but predictable comment. My European overseas friends say that Perth people are self absorbed, self opinionated and devoid of any intellectual depth.Do you ever wonder why nearly 20% of the population of Australia are outside the country, many of them semi - permanently? A rhetorical( borrow a dictionary and look it up) question of course -I would hardly expect you to know the answer.
In response to your inane comment - I don't and I did.

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
What a predictable comment, Bovine. That pretty much sums up the mentality of the people I have met in this backwater. The common comment I get from my overseas friends is that have found Australian people - by extension Perth - in general are totally self absorbed, self opinionated and intellectually ignorant . Perth is the most isolated city on the planet. You would think that fact would work for the city, but it hasn't.Think crime, which has been discussed elsewhere. And your domestic airport!! What a stinking filthy unkempt hole it is.There are third world airports far cleaner, but that's for another blog.
Thank ( insert name of your deity here) that I only have to come back here once a year.Where I live the nearest landfall is 2500 miles away - the most isolated Islands on the planet. But it would not be a stretch to say that that even though many '000's of people pass through the airport every year, you could almost eat your meal off the floor.
So in response to your inane ( Oscar Wilde you are not )comment - I don't and I did.

cheers

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
Perth should be a modern city full of life, instead of the ran down slum it is.

The inbreds of perth are boasting they now have a trainline running south of the city, wow every other city has had train coverage for the last 100 years. perth is still behind.

perth may get 7 day trading 20 years after everybody else
perth may get day light saving if the 3 year trial is long enough for the locals to realise how good it is.

perth is not only dull, it is outdated, violent and needs a good shake up.
Alan Carpenter is trying hard I admit even though he is laboUr but he does not have a lot of backing from the rest of his party. He needs to forget about stupid referendums and start to lead which is what he was elected for.

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
Plenty to do over the next few months Mintie. It seems you can celebrate New Year with fireworks anywhere from Mandurah to Geraldton on the coast and I think to Kalgoorlie out east.
It is written that Perth - Freo and father afield is now becoming the festival capital with some sort of concert/festival almost every weekend over the next few months.
The major overseas artists that are now planning on touring Australia are coming to Perth along with Melbourne and Sydney whereas once it was all but impossible to get them here.
Over the next month or so there are stageshows on at the Burswood Theatre and The Regal.
Mundaring Weir have a range of artists throughout Feb at the amphitheatre.
Joe Co ck er is at Kings Park soon,Leo Sayer at Brookhampton, some AC/DC thing at the Showgrounds that has sounds huge and great .
Then over the next few months you get City Muster, Boyup Brook and Moora Campout if you are into country.

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
might have to check out some things to do in Perth ... need to have something to do there, so I don't have to go shopping all the time (although on Sundays I don't have to worry about that)

The rugby must be starting soon too...definitely have to get to a game this year.

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
Such is the problem of an online forum.

you instantly assume that I was having a go at you when the reality is that what I was saying is that WA is so behind the rest of the world that --- lovers of sport other than our usual staples of cricket and Australian rules ... I.E. Rugby --- will have to leave the state to attend real matches or get foxtel

now stick that where it fits

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
Perth has potential but is being held back by the ludites of today.

Sport is another example.

As with 7 day trading where the IGA chain fight and lie to stop it. The AFL and its backers fight hard to keep out any competition that may take its fans.
AFL will probably become a minor sport in the future due to its lack of international appeal.
But it is just another reason why Perth is Dull compared to Sydney.
