I bag Perth with constructive ideas, we can make it more vibrant and lively.
I 20 years time we will have a bigger, better city that does not sleep and it will be a city with a beating heart.

hmmm yes, I can see how West Aussies warm to being called 'inbreds' ...that is very constructive. Of course the fact that many pioneering families have generations history and more class than those who throw name calling around like they actually know something about WA - is rather interesting - a bit like being born on the wrong side of the blanket in the 'old country' really - isn't it?

Only problem I can see Perth and WA has is Ausgal and Forcegolf continually bagging it.
Aus's theory on inbreds almost tops Forces theory on everything being better in third world countries.

Once again, my observation is that Perth is as dull as it gets and there is little hope for any real change. If you do not agree, then take an honest and objective look at Perth and it's changes over the last 25 years, or long if you wish. Perth may cover a larger area, however it's growth in ways of vibrancy, is almost non existent. We were part of the 10%er's 25 years ago, now we would be lucky to be the %%er's with our sister city of boredom Adelaide

Aus - perhaps your hope for a bigger, better city would be better served if you didn't push your opinions onto everyone that mentions Perth and/or WA. To be bigger and better we need to attract people not scare them off!!

Re:Perth is not Dullsville Reply to this message
'bigger' and 'better'; do not always equate!

Perth is beautiful and unique-thats what attracts people to it-it is not a carbon copy of the rat race ,that is many other cities.

Lets attract those kind of people ;who appreciate this beauty;instead of turning it into a carbon copy of many other cities ;just for those people who want to feel like they have never left home.

This is our state-we should not have to change what we think is special ;for others who only want to pass through-to the detriment of those of us who live here.

Lets attract those who appreciate the beauty we have-instead of destroying it and replacing its uniqueness with something that is alien to those of us here; who like what we already have.

The great thing is, we don't need to destroy or even detract from the natural beauty of the city to increase its appeal.

What we need is some forward thinking whereby culture, lifestyle and entertainment are furthered to benefit not only those who might visit here, but those who already live here, both from an economic and social perspective.

When I state my beliefs or want's for Perth how is it pushing,
I know that Perth can attract better events, shows, and people if we make the effort to give Perth a vibrancy and a beating heart.

It will be done by open minded free thinking people, that is how all things are improved, it will take a long time.
But in 20 years my vision of Perth is as:

a City of 2 million people or more from all over the world.
a City that shops 7 days a week to the late hours.
a City that never sleeps like London or New York.
a City of light summer evenings.
a City that all events and shows insist on coming to.
a City with a entertainment area covering the River front all the way along the Esplande and beyond.

I reckon my vision for Perth will not be far out. despite the old pioneering local families wanting to keep their log huts with corregated iron roofs and go to church every Sunday in their finest clothes.

Attract them to what? As a city Perth has little or nothing to offer visitors. The same can be said for us, it has NOTHING special to offer, that is why it is boring!

Ausgal,

Your predictions are on the money as I have lived in other city’s oversees which are the changes you talk of. Living in Perth now is like living in those city’s twenty years ago, so it goes to figure that the changes will come with time….Perth has allot to offer for those who can appreciate it.

You know Aus your vision is wonderful and parts of it are possibly what everyone can also see and may want.
BUT
the cr ap comes with the latter part of the paragraph. Unfortunately it has become the norm for you to be derogatory in your remarks towards those that dont embrace your views as gospel.
You probably have a lot to give but all the good is being blanketed by the negative and nasty comments that come with it.

Perth will one day in the future be a place to be proud of and to live here will be great, but we must work to ensure this happens or Perth will remain a boring town that you can survive in but not live in.

Can we change tack now on this subject and ask ourselves what exactly the average person can do to make Perth a place we all are proud of. How can you and I make a difference to what Perth is to become!

Open our minds to change, visit other great cities and come back with ideas, contact your local MP, local councils are a waste of time as they are too corrupt.
