'Bottom line is the people here in the service industry, are just plain lazy or they just do not care'.
When they are treated like crap - then expect crap service.
As for lazy, I consider young people holding down a job (sometimes two) as well as studying to support themselves as anything but lazy. |

Now back to Perth being dullsville!
I am one of these boring people Forcegolf mentions. I do not find Perth boring, I find the service on a par to any other state or country I have been too and as for the shopping - well its same shops - different place in Australia! Mind you I havent been to many third world countries yet but sh it Im sure as heck off to one because from what Im reading all the time from Forcegolf they are the place to be! |

When you said that the service here was on par with the rest of the world, I tuned out of the rest. You have got to be kidding, the quality of service and food is as bad as one can find in a so called civilized society. As for shopping to even compare Perth with any place is beyond a joke. The quality and selection is just not here and if by chance you find something decent, it has had the price jacked up so high that it is nothing short of robbery! You are not just boring, you are quite clearly blind! |

| Not so, it is just excuses for shoddy workmanship. Maybe it is a WA mindset, to not care about quality and pride in a job well done. Bottom line is that the quality of food and service in Perth restaurants, is very poor at best. Stop and ask Asian who are visiting about the quality of the food here, ask the American tourist what they think about Perth service. It is no wonder that the tourism industries give Perth a very wide berth, when suggesting to their clients, places to visit. |

| Garbage golf, currently, I am looking at new catering companies because my regular supplier has just been taken over by an Asian group. Prices have risen, quality is down and the service is only as good as the staff is being paid. In fact most have been replaced for student labour. |

I disagree, but I think people are resting on very a old and draconian past, and it certainly gives the appearance of not caring. Burying one's head in the sand is fine for an ostrich but the world is an ever changing place and we haven't recognised that it is affecting Perth before it's too late. We may be laid back - but we do need to realise that there is a difference between 'laid back' and 'dead'!
The fossils running the city are the main cause for concern. |

| I hate how people in this thread are saying things like Perth has less population and is younger etc. Look at Wellington in New Zealand. Population of 300,000 and recent changes there have been great. A new stadium in a brilliant location, thriving arts seen and Mayoral candidates who think there hasn't been enough change. If Perth wants to move, get a Premier of W.A. who can admit things need to be done. Start by building a central stadium in town so it is easily accessible, the convention centre is an ideal location. Then look at developing the water front. Perth has the weather and the scenery to be one of the greatest cities but, as mentioned before, Politicians and a large reluctance to change as the reasons why it is Dullsville. |

No actually i dont. I love Formula 1 for a start. I work in the hospitality industry and unlike the Rally, I dont think we will miss the V8s one bit.
