Re:Mining jobs for women Reply to this message
I've heard that Kiwis automatically get sent to the mining jobs in Australia after being unemployed and on the dole in NZ for 6 months... Hardly seems fair, does it!? I'm dying to get into a mining job and have worked in one before, but I can't get in... :(

Reply to: "where do I find information re; job availability as a kitchen hand or cleaner positions in australian mining industry"

Try Easternwell, Toowoomba, not mining but natural gas drilling camps in South Western Qld. I was on $250/day as a "Campie" camp attendant (cleaner/kitchenhand):

Re:Mining jobs for women Reply to this message
Hogan Mining appears to be a job recruitment agency. They charge a fee of $214 to register, this is sus. Any fee required in advance rings alarm bells. But they appear to be real. Google their name. Best advice is to print out their website and take it to your local Office of Fair Trading and ask them to advise you.

Re:Mining jobs for women Reply to this message
heheh they post one item on tv about the mining boom in Pilbara an everyone flocks here to get a job, its really not that simple, they have a world wide pick of people and they are picky, they want experience and tickets as long as your arm, oh and you have to know someone that works closley to the relevant hiring person, otherwise forget it.
I feel your frustration, I live in the pibara and still cant get in.

do you think hearing impaired can to do a dump truck driver??

No. The medicals are very strict, you have to pass a hearing test, sight test, everything. Plus you have to be able to hear the two way radios that control the dump trucks in pits.

Haha who told ya that?? that has no truth to it what so ever, if kiwis are on the dole for 6 months they will continue to stay on the dole the nz gov doesnt ship them off to wa to drive a dump truck and earn 100k a year

Re:Mining jobs for women Reply to this message
hi there, so is there plenty of jobs for unskilled people in kalgoorlie as well? I do have my MR licence and have done a two day first aid course at red cross, have got a police clearance from my country ,nz. I will be arriving in perth to live permanently on the 19 Oct. so do you think if i do the marcasta course and then front up to a mining place like kalgoorlie i might be in with a chance of a job?

Re:Mining jobs for women Reply to this message
ESS or compass do like the catering for the mining places,so they would be the ones for that kind of thing. chefs, kitchen hands etc,not sure about cleaning. just look up mining jobs in the hospitality side and that should come up with things like house keepers, cleaners, cooks etc, hope that helps you.

its possible to apply on line or even ring them up. But to me if you aren't living in the town you want to apply for ,they may just look at those that are resident there first. No problem trying.
