I'm not a cabbie but I have in-depth knowledge gained from designing specialized accounting software for the industry. Believe it or not, a heap of people are in situation of not being able to find other employment. eg most over 40s & the majority of indian / islamic migrants. The average driver would do better in MacDonalds than behind the wheel unless they work hours that would never be allowed under any award. There is actually no shortage of money in the taxi industry but the vast majority ends up with the two or three individuals at the top of the pecking order. |

Hello
I was in Melbourne in November 2008 and have received 3 late charges from different taxi companies. One on 49$ from Arden taxi Limo in December, one on 46$ from black and yellow taxi in April 2009 and one more from Arden taxi Limo on 43$ in September 2009. I know that I used the credit card at least one time to get to the Melbourne airport and that amount was charged correctly but the remaining 3 costs are very suspicious because I do not recall using the credit card any other taxi trip and even if I might have I am sure I did not take trips that would cost that much.
I will try and contact my bank about this to see if they can reject the cost and issue a new credit card but is there any other things you recommend me to do? Call Arden to complain? Contact authorities in Australia?
Regards
Robert |
