Deer Park - the new estate?? Reply to this message
We will be moving to melbourne for a year from qld. We are looking at rentals and saw new, nice homes in deer park. Can I have some feedback on deer park. I have 2 young kids that will be starting daycare - what is the new daycare centre like? My husband will be based at melbourne airport so we need an area close to there and were preferring the newer style homes. ANy info would be greatly appreciated.

You are much better off in an established area not a new estate. New estates are where a lot of the trouble starts. Breeding grounds for feral kids - IMO anyway.
I'd be more inclined to look at Essendon or Keilor. Or even head further out in the countryside at Gisborne/Woodend.

I'm sorry, but Deer Park is a shyte hole. Home to Dame Phyllis Frost womens' prison and a magnet for crooks and losers. Wouldn't live there in a pink fit.

Any place with a name ending in "Park" or "Springs" is a serious worry.

My sister has recently built her own home, in near by Tarneit

Now, while it's NOTHING like MY ideal of an environment in which to call home, (I'm strictly inner-city or country) I didn't find it all that revolting, as modern housing estates usually are

The houses have a bit more charm, individuality and warmth to them

Point Cook comes to mind, at the OTHER end of the scale

.

All those areas - Tarneit, Truganina, Deer Park etc are going to turn into the next Cranbourne and Narre Warren type of areas.

Point Cook will escape because the houses are more expensive. Keeps the riff raff out.
