Hey everyone,
In case you do not know what I am on about, Melbourne's lord mayor has decided to change the logo of Melbourne which would cost tax payers some sum of money. What do you think of it? |

IT COULD easily be seen as a section of Federation Square. But Melbourne's new logo is already being compared to the Vault sculpture - commonly known as "The Yellow Peril".
Liberal Lord Mayor Robert Doyle says the city's new logo is a strong and flexible "multifaceted M" - a symbol to the world of how cool, intellectual, creative and urbane we are.
The new logo was revealed yesterday and has cost the council almost $240,000. Landor, an international branding firm whose Australian base is in Sydney, created the logo for $148,000. The council also spent about $91,000 on research.

NSW Premier Nathan Rees is adamant he hasn't picked the wrong flower.
Mr Rees has rejected opposition claims the state's new stylised logo is actually a lotus, the national flower of India, rather than the waratah, the state's floral emblem.
"As a horticulturist I know a waratah when I see one," Mr Rees said in a statement.
"I'm proud to promote awareness of the waratah and I'll continue to do so."
The new logo, which the government has used for the past few months, was designed externally for NSW, costing the Department of Commerce $4,600.

Its absolutely ridiculous. There are so many things that need fixing in Melbourne right now, and the idiots running this place want to blow money on this crap.
This money could have been much better used if it was spent on reducing the violence in the CBD. The council could have put up more CCTV cameras, they could have hired security guards, they could've done an awareness campaign, etc.
Both state and local government in Victoria is an absolute joke, and its about time someone was held accountable. |

It's not just the cost that is offensive.
It's the fact Doyle felt there was noone in Melbourne who could design a logo to represent Melbourne!!!
There are thousands of graphic designers that could have done this logo for the same price - even cheaper - or as suggested have a competition and ask schoolchildren to design one (Port Adelaide crows recently had their jumper designed by a 7 yo!)
I am betting that Doyle gave this job to a mate of his in the Sydney company.
And now he has the gall to ask Melbournians to donate to the Lord Mayor's charity for the homeless!
I blame the d1ckheads that voted this moron in.

I think it sux Mr Mayor think about what the hell u are doing.......i'm stunned.
We get one that speaks english......but can't do any bookwork it seems..... put in camera's to appropriate area's to combat the problems of brawling......Stuff the footy its no important.....lol
