Advice on removalists from Qld to Tassie Reply to this message
Has anyone here moved to Tassie from another state (especially Qld) and can recommend a good removal method/company. We will be selling up most of our furniture, but still need to move our boxes down there. We are moving from Mackay to probably the Launceston area. Any advice would be most gratefully appreciated.
(Originally from Victoria here and sick to death of Qld, so now heading down to Tassie to be closer to family, cooler weather, friendlier people etc.)
Thanks in advance,
Cyndale

I moved down here for much of the same resons as you!
We sold all the big stuff & did the rest ourselves which was hellish....
I since used "2 Men and a Truck" (based in Glenorchy) they moved the rest over that I had stored in SA. Look them up. It can get costly like around $130 per square metre, but I got it all here for not a bad price. Im pretty sure they do most states & they do backloading which I did for cheaper.
Goodluck!

Hi again cyndale. Feel free to email on my yahoo one. We are looking at going to Launceston mainly beacuse of work. I am in an electrical trade and a company down ther is looking for my skills. Just waiting to see if I get an interview/job then the house goes on the market, the packing starts and we move. Sounds so easy when you say it fast. One advantage we have is that if I get the job, then relocation is included. Would you know anything about getting 2 dogs and a cat into Tassie? I only ask because to bring them into WA they need to go through quarantine. Do you know if Tassie has the same requirements? Like I said feel free to email.

I brought my 2 cats here from SA & they didnt require any checks for quarantine. Dogs need to be wormed & have a certificate for proof from your vet.

Cyndale, I give you a huge tip ... DO NOT USE Atkins Removals from Launceston, they are a rip off and their insurance is a scam.
Watkins Removals from Launceston are good or hire a small pantech and do your own. You could also get in touch with Somerset Removals, Somerset, Tas and Reid Removals in Hervey Bay are excellent.

As for pets:

Dogs must be treated with praziquantel at a dose rate of 5 mg/kg body weight within 14 days before entry to Tasmania with the following documentation:
(a)
A statement that they have been treated, made in writing by a veterinarian registered in the exporting State or Territory; or

(b)
A Statutory Declaration that they have been treated, made by the owner in the exporting State or Territory;
