| The government were quick to point the finger at the protesters over damage to property but how could they when the contractors were at the protest camp most of the weekend watching and annoying protesters day and night. Was this a diversion so others could do the damage and make it look like the protesters did it? ? |

Sadly, with Tasmania Police mothballed by Forestry Tasmania and the secret-squirrel sect, we will never know.
Everyone acts like the 3-wise-monkeys ensemble, if it can't be pinned on the Green Communist Party then nothing is heard from the vortex of corruption that exists in Hobart's parliamentary precinct. |

All i know is i wish those protesting w an kers would get the hell out of the forest instead of stopping hardworking forestry workers from making a living.
They need to occupy themselves by getting a job or something! |

| inverted==== you keep cutting away at the trees for mr gunns for $11 a ton and let the people buy their firewood for $160 plus a ton.It just means that you are so thick that your working 13 times harder per ton.you could buy a machine and truck yourself and pay it of and drive like mr gay with what you would make.If you wanted to go one better you could selective log mior species and double that.In the mean time say hi to Gunns for ripping you guys off BIGTIME |

| mate, i'm not a forestry worker. just get sick of seeing these social rejects climbing trees and being general d ick heads to disrupt forest workers in the area, then one of them will no doubt fall out of a tree and injure themselves and start sueing everyone in sight. its illegal... and thats the bottom line, thats why police are there making arrests. it will get logged so just deal with it and move on.... NEXT! |

| I did work in the bush for 40 years so you go out there. Its not logging the forest, its trashing the forest for $11 a ton for Gunns and noone wants the chips as there is too much now.The operators would make more to get their own contract and sell their own logs to mills for the real price. There is more to Lennons promise to Gunns to push this through.I would love to be a bushman again not a logger trashing the forest |

you worked in the bush for 40 years.
Well then surely if a pack of protesters came raging into the forest climbing trees and stopping you from doing your job back then you would be somewhat pi$$ed off? |

| Yep i would inverted but we selected the best tree to get the most out of it,this kept the price down as an end product to you as a builder etc.We fell a tree doing our best not to damage others.we had two fallers and two barkers with a barking spud and the machine operator and 4 trucks going all day every day.Today they have a faller if needed an two machines that do the lot and if you frame up a verandah 7metres x2 it will cost you $800 plus and the logger got paid $7 a ton and hes going to go broke because hes been ripped off. |

| Simply put and you are right Mikki, the forest industry is sustainable as it is, right now, the logging of virgin forest is to open up more land for future forestry instead of increasing the usuage of what is now wasted, but that is having to use your brain to come up with ideas to make the waste profitable. John Gay and his cohorts don't have the time to be responsible and clever. |

| There is enough plantation to be a sustainable industry for pulp and veneer and also room for a contractor to take selected minor species to keep our timbers unique which it is.The present situation is grabbing what you can while you can.Its ok for a minister who has no knowledge of the bush to ask a department [forestry]if the resource is okay, well its not or we would be the richest little island in the world.given the tonnage that goes down the roads everyday and the type of machinery used, the royalty on the timber in the last 20 years should have seen tasmanias footpaths covered in carpet.A word of advice to the Tasmanian Government. When you are in a hole.Stop Digging. |

| I don't mind selective logging, in fact I would love to see smaller sized mills all over the state, but rape is a different story. |

| If you go buy a ton of timber to burn it would cost you $90 to $160, If you go buy a ton of building timber 4x4 etc you would need around $2500.If you go see Mr Gunns and ask them what they pay its $11 and who is he ripping off [ the worker and tax payer ]why doesnt the contractor cut firewood intead and tell gunns to stick it- he would have to but a permit at $1 less than Gunns does before he gets his wood or enters a forest. |

| See your point brian, the pulp mill process was a bit over the top with mates rates and answers need to be addressed by government.even though there are for,s and against the mill and the process there would be 101% of the population knowing that a government can and will railroad you if they want.I would like to see the government set up a specialist tasmanian timbers resource for the furniture trade, that way we get $100s per ton not $11 and we sellect and watch the contractors buy matchines they can aford that do the job and employ more.look what the japanese done with tuna,we once ripped them out of the water by the ton,now they lift them out and just one fish is worth what we got for a ton.A bit different it may sound but maybe NOT look at huon pine and birdseye huon.mertyle plank or one with figure or fiddleback, gum burls,a eucalypt thats twisted is not much good accept chip $11 NO its worth $1100 as a blank for a table top.We got to look at this now and get the bushmen back. |
