I only go there once a year on business, but have never been impressed with the place. Unlike Brisbane they have kept most of the old buildings Joh Bjelke Peanut bulldozed years ago, but the effect is spoiled because of the filthy streets & incredibly dirty dusty state of the place. I guess rain would help but seeems you don't have such a thing there. Doesn't the council ever sweep the streets & the Mall ?? I've seen tidier rubbish dumps in the old days before we got those you beaut 'recycling stations'. The Barossa Valley looks like it hasn't seen rain for a couple of centuries, that supposedly german town (Handorf ??) was over-run by the viet cong ages ago, the poor excuse for a beach would be left to the sandflies in QLD and the heat is such that Lucifer could use it when Hell is full up. I have had the odd beer in the Brecknock but wouldn't be in a hurry to go back there now that the asians have taken over. Who ever heard of an Irish pub run by chows ?? The ONLY good thing (apart from the road out of town) I can say about the place are the very nice wines made by Chateau Dorrien. |

| No, not so. Was in the barossa recently and also south at McLaren Vale and it's just beautiful now. Why are you so scathing!?!? There are places that I don't care for, but I wouldn't go overboard to make the point. People accept opinions far more readily if they are cohesive, factual and stated in a mature and pleasant manner! Once a year visit is hardly grounds for all-encompassing rant. I hope you enjoy your next visit! |

| I like a bit of greenery around, either the Irish 'forty shades of green' or the Kuranda rainforest kind. No chance of that in Adelaide , its far too barren for my liking even if the place was cleaned up. Brisbane was a good city once but its getting over-developed. Tasmania looks like the best chance to get away from the develop at any cost mentality. |
