Good morning,
Adelaide
- - - - - - -
Population: 1.1 Million +
Alias(es): The City Of Churches, The Festival State
History: Named in honour of Queen Adelaide, the consort of King William IV, the city was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for the only freely-settled British province in Australia. Colonel William Light, one of Adelaide's founding fathers, is said to have designed the city and to have chosen its location close to the River Torrens. Inspired by William Penn, Light's design set out Adelaide in a grid layout, interspaced by wide boulevards and large public squares, and entirely surrounded by parkland. Early Adelaide was shaped by religious freedom, hence its moniker "The City of Churches,". Today Adelaide is known for its many festivals as well as for its wine, arts and sports

Well, moving from Darwin to Victoria, I travelled via Adelaide and here is what I think of it.
Roads: * * * - Sorry Adelaide, 'Gepps Cross' intersection was a mayhem for me. It was very unorginized!!
People: * * - Very very rude, the people at 'The Jackson Motor Inn' were so rude where I stayed at.
Sights: * * * * * - Top marks for that, 'Glenelg' was the beautifuliest spot out of them all followed by 'Eagle On The Hill'.
I will finish at that. :) |

Went to my first womadelaide this weekend ... one of the artists suggested of swapping the festival with some car race they have in her home town around Albert Park.
Fat chance I say ... I'm already looking forward to next years event.
Adelaide has so much going for her. |

| Adelaide is only as boring/interesting as YOU choose to make it. Like everything, it's up to the individual. I know I'd not choose to live anywhere else. |

| sorry guys, I have lived in Adelaide all my life, except for a brief (thank god !) time in Melbourne (18 months hard labour!) - and I am so appreciative of so much we have here.... I mean, we lived the same distance away from town (25kms) that we do here - travelling time ONE WAY and not peak hour 1 hour (allowing for bad/ good weather)... dream on if you were in a hurry in peak hour, when it would be faster WALKING there!! Finding a car park - goodluck !! Pay through the nose when you do (and you end up being on the top level right at the furthest end from the stairway!)..... ppl are abnoxious to say the least! No smiling friendly faces there. We lived in a rental home...18 months we were there, met one neighbour 3 months before we moved back home.... the best thing about living in Victoria - MOVING BACK TO ADELAIDE!! Each to his own, but I'm glad my folks settled here, and I count my lucky stars every day! |

| You want to see boring, rude selfish people, thern move to Geelong. We survived here for a year. No more, we're leaving this dump. Adelaide, may not be as cosmopolitan as melbouirne or Sydney, but it has charm and a lifestyle that is great for families. You can take Victoria and shove it. |
