What taxes and what money? I'm sure the US is more than happy to lay out tax money from its citizens to run gitmo. I don't see much of anything being done by the Australian government, particularly where money is involved.
Hicks, same as anyone else, deserves an opportunity to face the allegations against him. I'm not saying I think he's innocent or guilty - I don't know. That's the point of a trial. I don't care what he allegedly believes, I know what I believe, and I'm not going to give up on my beliefs.
And as to your oh so amusing 'links', no one, anywhere, ever, has made any suggestion that Hicks had anything whatsoever to do with 9/11. |

I'll agree. IF AND WHEN HE IS FOUND TO HAVE COMMITTED TREASON. Which he hasn't been at the moment. He's not even charged with treason. Remind me again of what it is he is charged with. We're pretty far gone if we're ready to condemn someone on the basis of photos seen in the media. No one is saying that he's a fantastic guy and deserves a hug, but it is important that we don't abandon our legal processes simply because someone is accused of committing crimes we feel particularly strongly about. |

You mean the photo of the weapon. It was just used to install his inflated ego. Make him look more macho.
It was a group of weapons that had been confiscated off the enemy by nato and he took one to use for the photo. |

Those photos were actually taken of him when he was fighting in the former Yugoslavia ... on NATO's side. The media neglected to mention that. |

| I went to school with David Hicks and even back then he was a twisted person, however, I believe after so many years he should be allowed to have his case heard. The amount of money spent on keeping him locked up could be spent on alot of other things....but to be honest, do we really want him to come back to Australia? Would any of us feel safe with him living next door???? |

David Hicks cannot be found guilty of Treason he's an Australian NOT American so he did not commit Treason to his own country.
Having been with the Military for 22 years I reckon he has served his time.
