Hi all back in SA - I have had to move to NSW due to a job transfer. I would just like to say - South Australia is by far the best state to live in. Here in NSW groceries are so expensive, licences cost about twice as much as SA, to register a car you need to get a pink slip, then a green slip (which both cost money) and then you can pay the registration. Life in SA was so much easier. Children cant start school until the January after they are 5 if they are born in the 2nd half of the year - in SA its the TERM after they turn 5 no matter when you are born - a much fairer system.
Be thankful that you live in SA and enjoy every minute of it as it is by far the Best State of Australia! I cant wait to come back. |

| Lived in Sydney, it can be alot of fun but its very expensive and alot of extra regulations as you have said. South Australia is much easier and cheaper to get a life in. |

Moved East from Adelaide about seven years ago.
Although Adelaide will always be home...
I don't think I'll ever live there again. |

| Well I'm not from Sth Australia and I happen to live in a foreign country at this time. But I have to say, the only time we heard of Sth Australia in the foreign press was when you guys had your Snowtown murders. Other than that, its the eastern states that are considered the movers and shakers of Australia. Still enjoy your city of churches everyone. |

It still annoys the hell out of me that these murders were labelled "The Snowtown Murders"
The bodies were stored in barrells in the old bank vault in the town. The murders were actually committed in other locations.
I am a South Aussie, and as much as it is freezing cold in Winter and Hot and Dry in Summer, I will stay here. Good job, nice home in a nice suburb, no reason to go anywhere else, and the Crows are on top of the AFL ladder. (Just thought I'd slip that one in for ya) |

Most of the murders actually took place in Salisbury and Elizabeth.
The Housing Trust had to demolish 203 Waterloo Corner Road (and the house next door) because nobody would live there after two bodies were found buried in the backyard. |

Adelaide is an amazing city to live in. We enjoyed our 3 years there and kept our house in the Mitcham Hills in case we return one day - the best area - close enough to the city by train, easy run down to the beach and the Fleiru peninsular and Kangaroo island. N. of Adelaide is pretty drab and only worthwhile once you get to P.Lincoln/Coffin Bay.
Living in Brisbane now though. In the hills again and I'm afraid the weather is warmer, the islands are closer, .... but the city is difficult to get around in and I miss the Central Market - just the right size... The pubs in Adelaide are amazing. I am just too warm blooded and hate the long cold winters... |

Ok hands up if you would live in a house that two bodies were found in? I as hell wouldnt.
Although i live in the western suburbs and most the houses around the port area are haunted. So whats the difference really?
I love Adelaide. I have lived here all of my life. I go to brissie at least once a year. As much as i love it there. Its not home. Adelaide is quieter and is always willing to help others in need.
Its also home to one of the best Australian bands in the country..Cold Chisel. A few bands from the 70s started in Adelaide. |

latham66 you say "I am a South Aussie, and as much as it is freezing cold in Winter and Hot and Dry in Summer, I will stay here."
You should try living where I have moved to the temperature ranges from minus 7 to 47 degrees - now I aint ever seen temperature like that in my 36 years in Sth Aust.
Now THAT is FREEZING - we have to wash the ice of our cars everyday before we can drive them - and you get 2 minutes down the road and theyve iced up again. And some days the fog doesnt lift until 1pm!
I miss SA - Oh well only another 2 years and 4 months and I'll be back - but whose counting? |

angel on her knees 23 you said "Ok hands up if you would live in a house that two bodies were found in? I as hell wouldnt."
The bodies were found in the back yard - they'd make for bloody good fertlizier if you ask me!
I also think no one wanted to live in the houses as the MURDERERS lived there, and probably committed the murders there too!
But imagine if you were the ones living there when the bodies were found! Eww yuk - right next to the veggies patch too! He he! |

I was pretty amazed at the large new marine developments along the North West Coast from Port Lincoln. The small coastal towns certainly are growing. |

| Adelaide is a unique city, ridculed by small minded people who've not got enough intelligence to find the good things and need everything shoved down their throats. I grew up in Adelaide and now live in Sydney. I know which city is cleaner, better for raising family, easier to get around, cheaper to live in. Sadly my wife is Sydney born and bred so I guess we'll be staying here. For the id1ots still smallmindedly living with the 'City of Churches' cliche, Adelaide has always been the most politically and artistically progressive city in Australia - suffrage/homosexuality being two key world leading issues addressed by SA well before the 'eastern states' got their heads around them. SA Great..... |

| Truth is, many are envious of our Adelaidian lifestyle - it's laid-back with all the mod cons but minus the pressures of living a rat-race type lifestyle, such in Sydney (which is a nice place to visit but who in their right mind would want to live there!?!) ;-) |

This would be the best place if not for the politics.
Heck it probably is the best place I just didn't know how bad interstate politics was until I saw the disgracefull antics of the premier of NSW |

G'day melrina. You could pick worse places than South Aus.
Personally speaking though I don't think the cost of living is to bad here. You didnt mention if you planned to settle down and work here so perhaps if you could advise of your occupation I may be able to put you in touch with someone. Better to know plenty before you arrive! |
