Hi there, my husband and I are looking into a move to Noosa. He is a carpenter in Sydney with about 15 years experience. Would love to discuss further. <<<<
Well for a start email me, I cannot get a carpenter for love or money.
Research the Hinterland towns of Noosa, Cooroy, Pomona, Eumundi, even Cooran, they are delightful friendly places (especially Pomona), while being cheaper than Noosa and only about 20 minutes from town and beach.
Noosa proper can get very busy at times |

| On a wage about $25 an hour, and that gives you superannuation, holiday pay etc. Or $30 to $50 an hour as a subcontractor. I can't compare the cost of living to see how it works out for you. |

| age.johns, there is a Kawana shopping complex very close by, so the area is very well supplied with shops along the main road, which is called the Nicklin Way. |

major downturn here on the Sunshine Coast - my neighbour is a pommy chippy and he has been working on his own place for the last 3 months as theres no work. His unskilled Brother in Law came out on spec 6 months ago and is heading home - couldnt find anything.
It ain't all beer and skittles over here so do your homework very well! |

| If your able to get with a builder who is doing alot of BSA work, which is uncompleted work from builders going bust or shotty workmanship you will be right. Plus you should check out the Caboolture area also, as alot of houses are being built there. |

holiday spots all along the Sunshine Coast - recommend you try somewhere that you might be looking at living.
I'd steer clear of Noosa - expensive and if you cant find work at that end of the coast it can be a very long commute to work. Having said that, it is a beautiful spot and well worth a holiday.
Coolum is my favourite spot - still has a village feel and kinda central to the rest of the coast.
You may want to look at Caloundra - its a little over an hour to Brisbane - opens up a whole range of larger employment opportunities. The plans are for a city of approximately 80,000 people to be built just sth of Caloundra in the next 15 years. THATS where the building work will be long term. If you cant fin something straight up you can step down to Brisbane North until you do.
Actually heaps of Poms at North Lakes - they call it 'Little Britain'. Its a new development on the northside of Brisbane. You might wanna check that out.
Happy to help |

Not sure how to answer that one - biggest issue facing the coast is housing affordability. Population growth is outstriping available housing. Cheaper options to both rent and buy exist in the hinterland west of the highway strip. This area is also projected to have very solid growth in value in comparison to the beachside as its more affordable and people are buying it up.
rents can be between $450 and $700 per week depending on what you want.
Recommend you check out realestate.com.au for both rentals and sale prices - just put in major suburbs and surrounding areas and you should get them all
Wages wise you definitely get paid less on the coast. Employers won't pay more as they can't afford it and they justify it with saying you have lifestyle instead. |

| We've lived all over, and have found the cost of living in Qld to be much higher than other Australian states, particularly groceries ($7.00 for 3kg potatoes Vs $2.99 for same potatoes in Victoria, essentially we've found fruit and veg to be very expensive which surprised us), petrol is dearer, and so too are the costs of tourist attractions and take away food. But heyyy, we're in Nth Qld, and figure it may just be a scam to get us whinging southerners out! LOL. |

yep you're right - all you ever do is whinge cyndale - why dont you piss off back to vic or whatever other hole you crawled out of
For the record petrol is definitely cheaper - the state govt pats an 8c a litre subsidy which is rorted but we are still on avergae probably 5 - 8c a litre cheaper than down south |
