I admit that there are moer jobs in cainrs but then there are probably more jobs again in Townsville and more again in Brisbane.
It would be my preference to live and work in Airlie Beach.

I lived there for 25 years and am pretty happy to have moved to Mackay. It's not a real good place to work, I was a building contractor and you had to watch who you worked for. Airlie was first made up of brankrupts from the Gold Coast and is still a nervous place to contract in. |

If you work in the outdoor building trades, then Cairns or anywhere in Nth Qld. is going to hard work in the wet season. Our company has carried out work in Townsville and Weipa. In the months of Dec,Jan, Feb and March we had cases of people going to hospital suffering dehydration and/or heat stress.
Other times of the year are excellent and outdoor work would be no problem. providing you can get it.
Unless you are in a Airconditioned environment, think again. |

| so cairns is not a good place to live then and there is not much chippy work there. do u have any ideas on where to move to for lifestyle and work bearing in mind i would like to be close to the beach |

isn't raining all the time
has an unemployment rate of 3%
Has better beaches
Half a days drive to cairns or the whitsundays
Several national sporting teams and the V8 motor sport
That's why I live there; recommend you go for a visit and check it out.

what happened to the sunny coast johns?
the weather stuff you ask can be answered with a simple google search
lets pput it this way though - if you love to sweat then Cairns is the place for you. High humidity and rain dripping off the walls makes for uncomfortable living. Think crutch rot!
It seems you still really dont have a plan after several months of asking questions. Perhaps a trip to check things out first might be wise? Send the missus cause in reality if she dont like it you will get grief.
The in-laws of the poms next door came over without checking first. Spent over 30 grand and headed home after less than 3 months. |
