Coming from my partner, he says the opportunities are far greater here than in Britian and if you get a job sorted before you come, then thats even better, but do keep in mind the houses are built differently compared to Britian and there will be a few things to learn.
His father moved his whole family to NZ in 1963 and has never regretted it, nor looked back and wished he never did it in the first place. |

| Just notice there are gaps in the address, so please ignore the gap and make it one word. Some of these address's are web sites and some are just a email address to contact them. |

John, I live on the Sunshine Coast and do a bit of property here and there, three years ago could not get a chippie for LoM, things have gone off the boil a bit now, but am sure they will pick up in due course.
SC is without a doubt the best place to live in AUS.
Drop me an email if I can help.
BTW I am English too! |

| Sorry mate what do u mean by CGT, how strange is that mooloolaba is where we are looking to move to we have just booked a 3 week holiday there for may next year to see if we like it and the kids like it. Would u say i would be better off working for myself then and sub out to builders on go on the books with someone o and thanks alot for all your help so far |

CGT is Capital Gains Tax - you pay on property if its considered an investment. What Bahamanian is referring to building your own home - it is therefore not considered an investment as it is your principal place of residence and exempt from CGT.
Now Bahamanians theory is all very well if you have sufficient cash to stump up front - half a million Australian plus would be the go. Otherwise subbying to builders is the norm out here mate.
I would take some advice below and be cautious as to who you take advice from on here. Same for me - email me if you wish sneezy_doc@yahoo.com.au
I live on the coast and work across all industries so have a good generalist knowledge of employment trends etc |

To sub contract you would need, among other things to get a sub contractor`s licence though the BSA (Building Services Authority), who are the state gestapo on all things building http://www.bsa.qld.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx
Couple of other sites - Queensland Master Builders Association http://www.infolink.com.au/c/Master-Builders-Assoc iation-of-Queensland
Housing Industry Australia - http://economics.hia.com.au/index.aspx
Don`t come out yet unless you can afford the risk - I don`t think we`ve bottomed out yet. I was also a registered Builder, for over 20 yrs, but now I only do design work - I see a hell of a lot more of the market trends as a designer. |

| age.johns, If I was you I would be subing out to the builders first up, because by doing this you will be able to learn the difference of home building is here, compaired to Britian. Most builders who sub contract usually pay anything from $35.00 to $40.00 an hour. |

| Carefull, it`s illegal to pay sub contractors hourly rate and remember you need to be licenced. |
