I dunno.... but I think (well in Queensland at least) that they have to declare if they tape the conversation.
When I got done and taped the policeman recited what was obviously the standard blurb regarding the taping of our conversation. |

| Yeah i was under that impression too that if you are recording a conversation you need to tell the person that you are recording. Ive also heard that recordings that are not declared prior are inadmissible as evidence and someone once said also may be illegal to do so. |

| Wis, as long as you are a party to the conversation you can record it without the person being made aware of it, (at least in vic you can). If you want to tape a private conversation btw other people (like phone taps, listening devices etc, you need a warrant to do it). |

| With regards to drinking. Did you know (in QLD) that the passenger can also be fined if they are drinking alcohol whilst travelling in a vehicle? This is due to it being classed as drinking in a public place. I personally would never fine anyone for it as most people are not aware of it and I don't see the relevance. When doing static RBT sites I do let the passengers know the rule. By rights we are supposed to also get them to tip it out but I don't like to see a good beer go to waste so I tell them to just keep it until they get home. Of course I know they would swig on it down the road but hey... |

That pretty much supports my opinion that the government deliberately makes thousends of laws for the sole purpose criminalising the population. How in feck is anyone supposed to remeber all those fecken laws, FFS
They then use the police to keep the population in check, a fearful society is compliant society, just ask the nazis.

Too true bigol but once again, ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
Personally i think its a great excuse, take tax law for instance, have you seen the size of the australian tax law ??? 38,000 + pages from a document that start at 60 pages. |

There is alot of strange laws in QLD. I have found that since moving here
One of most dumbest is that a person can change lanes while ON a roundabout. |

You and me both. After being here for two years I refuse to say anything bad about the current state of law enforcement back in NSW. |

I wouldnt say its bad, its rather odd though, especially when they make new laws that police and other authorities have to enforce.
They are made by a public servant no greater or lesser than ourselves and where as the laws are not even vetted by a senate. |

The reasons for accidents add up to over 300%, but what happens is that they are often used individually to justify various measures taken by the government.
If you're all for zero tolerance of road fatalities then you should also be pushing for driverless vehicles that are incapable of breaking a road rule and require no driver input. They're expected to be on sale by 2025. |

So you have to stop - on the roundabout - and then merge over? |

I assume so. Well at first.... then they'll bring laws that you must be awake and alert at all times and resume with random breath testing... which will be done automatically in the vehicle and if you're over the doors will lock and it'll fill with poisonous gas as the car changes direction and heads for the nearest morgue. |

I believe that in Queensland the correct procedure is to come to a halt, put on your hazard lights, exit the vehicle, climb on roof, place a chicken on your head, Turn around in a complete circle and check for other vehicles.
If you think it's safe to proceed then remove the chicken, climb down from the roof, run around the vehicle 3 times in counterclockwise direction then re-enter the vehicle and proceed with extreme caution. |
