I'm wondering if anyone else is hum... disgusted at the inefficiency of the QPS. To sum up, my partner and have reported a theft from a dwelling more than 12 weeks since then and they still haven't done anything to retrieve our stolen property. The situation is rather weird since the offendant is known and he has admitted taking the property... Unfortunately the property (amplifier, computer equipment, diving computer etc) was stolen by our housemate at the time. The only thing they've done was call me up to the police station a few days after report was made to have a MEDIATION with the housemate who stole the property. I'm wondering if this is a normal procedure for the police... To offer the victim to negotiate with the criminal??? At least what I would expect them to do is charge the housemate with the offence so he'll learn a lesson.

My co-worker had a similar experience. A bunch of drunk teenagers, unlicensed in an uninsured car lost control over the car and crashed into her house, seriously damaging it. She was absolutely shocked and had to stay in a hotel for a few days and then she got a call from the police and guess what... The police officer stated that they would not like to bring this issue all the way to the court so they suggested mediation with the teenagers' parents.

a few years ago some drug dealers in bundaberg got raided by the qld police due to a tip off. Whoever tipped them off used my name to report them, The police then gave my name to the drug dealers and I subsequently had my life threatened because of it. I did not tip the police off, but the real point is that my life was put in danger soley due to the actions of corrupt bundaberg CIB officers.

So from my experience, Qld police are corrupt scumbags with brutal disregard for law or public safety.

From the first case above its not hard to see why police would not take matters to court , like many members of the public they have no faith in them giving any sort of satisfactory outcome. A man who kills six teenagers gets a possible maximum sentence of five years for example. A lot of victims want or need closure and possible satisfaction at the end of the proceedings , this is seldon possible or achieveable in our present court climate.
In all systems there are bad apples and given the pressure and mediocre numbers the police have I am surprised that they have many people willing to do that job at all. My experiences , yes even being booked for speeding, have been positive. The politicians who keep the numbers where they are are a disgrace.

I would say no to the mediation and tell them I want charges laid. I really wouldn't want to speak to someone that stole my stuff.

hmmmm as it was your housemate that stole your stuff, what can they actually charge them with. I would have thought that you would have to take them through small claims or the like.
I don't mind getting booked for speeding when I am but have been booked a couple times now where it really was dubious.
It is a wonderful feeling when you beat the bu&&ers in court.
When it comes to doing anything more than handing out revue raising tickets they are useless.

Deepest respect for the ones who I have dealt with.....especially the local man who had to come to our door at 4.30 am in the morning to deliver some devastating news......what a tough job.....and some of what they have to deal with....some of what they see......we have no idea.

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
In country communities your local policeman is not a stranger but in a lot of cases a mate, a friend, a parent of your children's friends, serving on community committees.

When our local guy came to our door to tell us that my husband's brother had died, he wasn't coming to tell us about a stranger, he was coming to tell us about someone he knew, someone who was not just another fatality. When he has to attend the scene of an accident the big possibility is he will know the crash victims, or their family. These guys and gals deserve some credit. When there were RBT blitzes (usually around showtime, community celebrations etc) it was usually police from a nearby station but the local man was there.

I was getting all ready after the show one year to blow into the bag when he spotted who it was and told the other policeman not to worry about it...why...cause he knew I didn't drink and it was a waste of time.

Police are real people with real feelings...with families...and I'm sure sick of pulling people up for not obeying road rules....because they are the ones who have firsthand and intimate knowledge of the devastating effects.

Takes special people nessa to do some of these jobs.....police...ambos.. ..doctors...nurses....fir emen and women. We may come accross some bad stuff once or twice in our lifetime.....they deal with it daily.

We as the public have the opportunity to help make their jobs easier. How often do we see the results of accidents and shake our heads because they did not have to happen?

We can take into account weather, road conditions, traffic flow etc.....but it comes back to personal responsibility for actions...sorry probably going off topic thinking of other thread re speeding.

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
Queensland police? I was up there last year when my cousins kid was pulled up walking home with her friends. The reason? It had started to rain for the first time in months and the kids started running around waving thier arms. Cop car going past pulls them up and they start giving them the third degree. Then they tell them to get of the street as soon as they can!! The kid came home in tears couldnt understand what she had done wrong. 13 years old and in tears becuase she was harresed for having fun with her freinds. I bet those cops dont understand how they made that little girl feel like a crim!! My cousin rang the police for an explaination. She was told they would get back to her. Have a guess what? The inccident was in november last year and ........you guessed it!!

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
Well today I received an envelope in my PO box, but it is addressed to my residential address, it is the ticket that the cop couldn't give me the other day becuase he had run out. I have not opened it. I am going to have the PO return it with the note that there is NO MAIL SERVICE to this address, which is the truth. Bu&&er the cops, they refuse to accept my postal address then don't try and send me mail. I gave my postal address as well when applying for my licence, so why cant they find it and use it? I am betting that the cop will turn up on my doorstep, shame my rotti died, to which I will tell him, at least I kept him off the road for 1/2 an hour and maybe saved someone else a ticket. Then I just might fight the fine because I truely do not believe I was doing 124, sure I was under 110.

IF that is the case then and you can prove it then take it to court. you have the right to do so.

Dont stuff around with these QLD police guys, they will treat you like dirt if you do.

Well if you are in denial and going to fight it, you had better do something about it prior to 28 days. You incur fees on top of the fine after 28 days and if you lose (which you probably will if you have traffic history) it will cost you more than the original fine. Weigh it up.

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
yeah been weighing it up, even though I truely believe I am innocent (well was doing over the limit but not by 24k)
if I go to court and lose, then I will have higher costs,
if I win, the local cop will no doubt target me.
I can't prove I was NOT doing 124 any more than he can prove I was. Just gunna pay it, if I lose my licence down the track I will just have to take my chances. But then that cant be too hard around here, 1 woman I know has driven around for 20 yrs without a licence and only rarely gets fined.

If this is all you have to whinge about get a f---ing life. I am married to a serving officer and I see the pain and anguish they suffer on a regular basis. How would you cope pulling a lifeless 12 month old baby from a car that was doing 125klm in a 100 zone the drugo driving lost control and kills their child, or when some *** on a motor bike doing 100 in a 60 zone hits a car, the bike rider was like jelly. I could go on about how they find suicide victims with 1/2 their heads blown off. But hey you go on complaining about your bl--dy postal address and the ticket you got because obviously that is important in your little world.
