| I live in central west NSW(that's if you want to move) and they are screaming for truck drivers signallers and the like, pay is great you can earn six figures doing it. Just call skilled, they will even train you to get the neccessary ticket. Be warned though Mine sites are strictly drug and alchohol free, can't even have a beer the night before, random urine tests are the go, and you must pass a comprehensive medical exam before you start. |

The mines phone numbers.
Lots of them use job agencys. Machinery tickets would be a benefit to you, but if you can drive giant things they might accept that and let you do your tickets on site.
The mines are usually four on four off - it varys from place to place. Most take home $1200ish for that, some more, camp accomodation and meals, work clothes included.
Don't get glassy eyed about the pay though. Accomodation for your days off is expensive. |

| Best thing is to get tickets for the machinery and then start off somewhere else first. My husband just started a new mining job near Mackay. Over 500 applicants for the position. Most agencies won't even look at you for the job without tickets. Yabulu near townsville always needs truck drivers they even take people without tickets and train them on the machinery. Not mine pay though and is only a refinery. |

| G'Day. Well,I dunno about Mackay, but there's work in mines in W.A. Just ask at Centrelink. Be Warned though... You have to have a ticket to be on site,it costs you a couple 'a thousand just for an interview, you must pass medical & security checks which you pay for...Big bikkies too. However, I have heard they are screaming for workers, drivers, everythin g! Some Companies have accommodation for workers & their families,(you have to pay for it of course.), & generally they have NO ALCOHOL, NO DRUGS rules that extend to the night before. ONE slip,& you're OUT. (Good Rule I Think.) Some companies will even pay your airfare over! I have heard too that work is ... 2 weeks on, 1 week off, shifts are 12 hours & No weekends, you work a 7 day week. Pay is around $100 to $140,000 per annum. (So I've heard. I have not worked on mining sites myself,so I could be wrong.) Hope this is of some help to you. If you're not too keen on going to W.A.,there's Roxby Downs in S.A. Similar rules & conditions, & they're screaming for people too. |

You can't contact them personally, you have to go through an employment agency |

| You need some sort of trade people! My fiance was a broke ass poor apprentice for four damn years a reason. Either scoop up a traineeship/apprenticeshi p and accept bad money for a few years or its probably not worth trying. |

| Also be prepared for the "generation Y" HR staff at the mine, as they seem to have no idea what they are doing! My hubby went through tonnes of interviews with one of the mines, then sent for medical in the city (luckily at their cost), then was told to do an online psych test. I am a psychologist and the psych test they were asking him to do was for sales staff... lots of questions about sales and whether he got a 'buzz' from making a sale... no questions relevant to the psychology of tradesmen or anything relevant to nutting out whether he was equipped for the mines. Did I mention he is an industrial electrican and knows nothing about sales? I was astounded. Then the HR girl refused to answer his calls or respond to any of his messages... finally we heard he 'may' have failed the psych test. Not only were we bemused by his failure to pass a sales oriented psych test, but we were astounded at the lack of professionalism (including the fact that when he flew from Victoria to attend a previously arranged interview... the engineer and HR staff who were supposed to see him were absent and he was interviewed by labourers! LMAO!) |

You have posted the typical "goings on" with regards to getting a job at the mines. It's a systems failure whereby we have all these you beaut agencies trying to out do each other with professionalism trying to impress the mines and justify their existence. |
