I have an idea... let's put appetite suppressant in the water to help all the fat people.

Don't worry about those that are not fat... it wont harm them!!!!

with fluoride toothpaste- the dose is delivered where its needed- on the teeth and then spat out etc etc.

how will drinking it help when its the wrong way to deliver?

the whole flouride in drinking water is bizarre. its just not necassary.

complete waste of money - spend it on dental health checks and education.

oh maybe ban soft drinks and watch cavities decline.

You had better be careful what you say Madar, anyone with the view that flouride in the water supply is not such a good idea will get a public name bashing from therehi97.

Although it seems his insults have been deleted.

I agree that one brushing a day is a sufficient flouride dose.
If parents can't be bothered then maybe they should look at other ways of dealing with them. Maybe they will dig up other forms of neglect while they are at it.

Every time you uneducated hysterical weirdo's start one of these threads I ask the same question and it NEVER gets answered. If it is so dangerous it must have hurt someone somewhere in the world. Show me just 1 case where just 1 person has successfully sued anyone for adverse effects of flouride anywhere in the world.
You can't do it because it hasn't happened.

I have a question I would like to ask and I only want an educated answer please. Keep you critisism to yourselves please.

My dentist told me to only give my 1 year old son toothpaste for babies til he is 5 because the adult toothpaste has too much flouride.
Now, if we are going to get flouride put in the water, and he would drink about 1.5 or more litres a day, plus I brush his teeth twice a day, then what kind of dose is he ingesting? The more water you drink the bigger the dose?

Morons
Uneducated
Stupid
Second Class
1diots s... or any other terminology of that nature.

OK therehi97....

First of all, I have a degree as does my husband who is a Civil Engineer. So lets leave uneducated out of this. It's getting old.

Secondly, lets just say that flouride is perfectly safe and has zero effect blah blah blah. Well, shouldn't I still have the right NOT TO DRINK IT.

If you are lacking then brush your teeth more often or go to the chemist and pick up a tablet.

Re:Flouride in drinking water! Reply to this message
caesarooney this is a source that therehi97 might find credible - not easy to find and buried away in the piffle.

http://www.ada.org.au/app_cmslib/media/lib/0703/m5 1011_v1_fluorideuse2.pdf

On page 7 they recommend ZERO [mg/litre] fluoride supplimentation for children 6 months and under where the local fluoridated water is at a concentration of .3 mg/litre [mg/litre]. Seeing as the water is fluoridated to a standard of 1 [mg/litre] as the optimal dose it would seem that this rate is more than triple their own recommendations for a baby of 6 months.

If your child has kidney problems then according to the NHMRC the rate could be 9 times the recommendation.

The US ADA now recommends bottled unfluoridated water for infants.

You also have to consider other sources and multiplier effects from other sources, medication, food produced in areas where they use fluoridated water in production. More than likely they are receiving "too much" already.

The above site interestingly also gives one of the symptoms of fluorosis as large areas of enamel missing as well as pitting etc.
I would think a less than optimal result.

Thanks tone....

It was refreshing to get a proper reply. I will research the info that you gave me. I am also interested in the effects in may have on new borns and you mentioned that as well.

I am not going to trust that is is safe for my family. I would rather make my own informed decision based on the facts. Not because all the other states do it and accept it as normal.

Thanks

It was during the 1970.s that i was living in New zealand, and the local waimari council, decide, like queensland to flouridate the water supply, Many months went by debating the subject, Dentist being the main PUSHERS, we talked to the heath minister, the council, the for and the against, in the end, the council dropped the idea, New Zealand has the cleanest water in the world, Why !!! would you want to put poison into it, But at the end of the day, it comes down to this>>>It is our own bodies, and its our right as to what we absorb...if you want flouride, go to the chemist and buy some tablets, leave our water untouched, if you dont, who knows what they will put in it next...????

If they put flouride in is to assist lazy people that won't brush their teeth, then next they will add appetite suppressants to assist those too lazy to go for a walk!!!!!

Re:Flouride in drinking water! Reply to this message
You're right about that nessa sarily so, 3/4 kids won't drink it, but I think it's more to do with the easy availability of soft drinks. It's a lot cheaper to buy sugary flavoured water than milk these days. But with modern technology, the days of milk left for hours in the sun should have been long gone. I, like others, would rather prefer fluoride to be added to some cans of soft drink, with the option of buying it without the poison added, just like when you have the option of buying a can of normal soft drink, or the so-called 'diet' soft drink.

Chuck because most soft drinks are made in areas that have fluoridation of water these can/bottles come repleat with fluoride.

Our kids have always drank milk but they were not given a lot of options when small and we never "flavoured" it. Kids get used to sweet stuff early, if you can avoid it you can influence their taste.

Short extract Copied from the Daily Telegraph 29th JUNE, 2007.
TOOTHACHE REVEALED: 200,000 on NSW dental waiting list,
“More than 45,000 are children living with tooth
decay and oral disease so severe it could turn life threatening.
Exclusive waiting figures obtained by The Daily
Telegraph show for the first time our decaying dental
health industry.
This is the first time in three years the data has
been revealed and it shows on May 31 there were
178,876 waiting in NSW for dentistry, including
45,339 children. At one Sydney hospital almost 60
patients were treated for dental infections so severe
their airways were closed off. The growing list reveals a country in crisis.
The Daily Telegraph understands up to 60 patients
have been treated at Westmead Hospital this year with
dental infections so severe their airways became closed.
Despite 650,000 Australians awaiting dental
treatment, only 4027 in NSW have accessed the scheme
in three years.”

And in NSW, THEY DRINK FLUORIDATED WATER!
Check out the website if you want to confirm for yourself.

Flouride has existed naturaly in drinking water around the world, in some areas in higher levels than being applied here. No medical problems have been reported,
although the fluoride has been drank by many generations and perhaps some immunity is present in these people.

Re:Flouride in drinking water! Reply to this message
It is true that Fluoride can be naturally present in some drinking water supplies around this Earth.
But which Fluoride is it?

Is it the toxic man made Sodium Fluoride?

Or the all Natural non-toxic Calcium Fluoride?

Basically the stuff their drinking in Sydney and surrounds is the toxic Sodium Fluoride.

Re:Flouride in drinking water! Reply to this message
Fluoride is a poison.

Fluoride does nothing to prevent decay in adult teeth, it only has an effect on baby teeth which everyone loses anyway.

Rather than fluoride they need to put tighter controls into what goes into food that is causing the tooth decay in these young kids and promote dental hygiene. There is valid no point or any need to poison and entire population AGAINST THEIR WILL in order to protect temporary teeth.

Dentists call for fluoride in bottled water

Adam Cresswell, Health editor | December 01, 2007

BOTTLED water should be fluoridated to the same concentrations as public drinking water in order to reduce tooth decay, according to a revised policy by Australia's top dental body.
