I can't be the only one that suffers from the peak hour bombay-style buses and trains to brisbane city.

Let me know your experiences, good (hahahhaha) and bad.

And for those in metro south-east, how do we feel about the forced go-cards about to roll out?

I personally like the go-cards only when:

the patron is competent to use them.

People that stand there for ages stuffing around staring up in the sky searching for coins, cards, grrrrrrr.

Is there a condition called 'public transport rage'?

I used to patronize public transport whenever possible, however I've almost given it up as a VERY bad joke. One typically has to watch five or six buses sail past before one stops. Not exactly a lot of use when other time critical connections are involved. Very few services run remotely near the proper time, various excuses are given, including 'slopeheads never have change', 'we can't do the trip in the time allotd', & 'drivers from certain depots are dickheads'. Then there are the mysteriously missing buses, particularly late at night. Translink passes the buck to Brisbane Transport who pass it back to Translink. Neither organization employs sentient beings so there isn't anything to be gained by complaining. I've come to the conclusion that the Blighters prefer people to clutter up the roads rather than do the environmentally responsible thing.

IBB: do you use the south east busway, or any of the other new busways?

Have you seen all the houses they have cleared from Old Cleveland Rd for that new link? Those 'towies' that owned most of those houses would have made a mint!!

I personally use Veolia buses (they are thru translink). The buses are loads cleaner and less graf and gum on them, always awesome A/C (that works).

I came out this way from East Bris/Stones Cnr last year, and compared to BCC buses our buses are awesome. (When the so called peak-hour expresses arrive on time)!!

Translink has about 321321423423423 umbrellas of mine, hence I purchase $5 ones now.

I've used all the busways. Used to be a good thing before the population explosion but they are all close to their use by date, none of them have capacity for growth

Private owners are a tad more careful about their property than pubic (sic) servants. I notice Veolia drivers have zero tolerance for scumbags.

I really don't think public transport is on the Blighters radar. No doubt their mates make more profit out of private transport.

IBB: Anything that the government or council suggests is phooey anyway because they use public transport. (except when it's a stunt)

I've found the Veolia drivers more polite and helpful to the people that need help(as opposed to BCC drivers), and not tearing off knocking the elderley/otherwise over before they are seated.

Problem with any Translink service is the routes into the city are already hopelessly congested & even if the Blighters had some money to spend, there is probably nothing that can be done to fix the issues, apart from reducing population dramatically, and they haven't the nous for that..

Re:Public transport love/hate debate Reply to this message
I get the 7:55 bus, (arrives up to 15 mins slow everyday) supposedly is the 'express' due in CBD at 8:38, more like 8:55. I get on at the 3rd stop into its journey and there may be one or two seats left.
Before it reaches half way to the city every seat is taken, and no room left for people to stand, so it sails past other patrons......
Everyone on the bus signed a written letter over a week, about 500 passengers plus others we saw at the the terminus. All we wanted was a 2nd bus at that time. 4 months later, no answer, apparently we need to wait for translink to do an audit.

that used to happen alot at the milton train station, being one of the last stops sometimes it would be full and not stop. eventually i gave up and just used my car.

Re:Public transport love/hate debate Reply to this message
Oh yeh milton would be worse!

If I catch the train, just to mix things up a bit (how lame) it is packed by the time it gets to Birkdale >:(
And I get crazy thinking about school kids not offering their seat to me, I've got the bloody adult fare!!
I usually have to ask them for it, if they are one of the private school boys, they scramble out of the way! too funny.
