If a doctor gave you a medical certificate for 5 days off sick leave, do you take it, or go back to work after 2 days?
The employer is legally bound to observe the time as shown on the medical certificate if it states you are incapable of doing your job for the five days. Not doing so could potentially place the employer at risk should you be injured again during the five day period. |

My point was that an employer who ignored the instructions of a duly qualified medical professional could well end up in heap big trouble, unless as you point out, there is a subsequent certificate cancelling out all or part of the earlier one. |
