In all the years I have driven, I have NOT HAD one fine for anything, and I only drove big V8 engine cars with alot of grunt under the bonnet and a note to match it.

NO WAY, I am more for the fORD 351 GT, either the hard top XB or the XW. The amount of males that have come up beside me while I was sitting at lights, wanting a race, reving their engines, only to shrink behind the wheel of their car, when I left them for dead and never saw them again, as they soon learnt that I was one chick that new how to handle a V8. LOL

Had a knife to my throat last week while two thugs robbed me ,the police had them within two hours and in court the next day. The "justice" system run by snivel libertaians will probably reward them but the police were brilliant. Professional, caring, effic ient and human. 100% credit to them.

Joking aside Casino you must have a real problem if you think making up a story like this would benefeit anyone. Redland Times Friday April 17th .Being a country rag we do not have page numbers, crime section. Would give you the police report number too but just a little miffed that you expect people to lie. Do not judge everyone else by your own standards. Unless I forged the court documents too ??set down for mention Thursday Brisbane Magistrates Court Thursday 18th April. No result of this known.

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
My experiences are a mixed lot. They have been great getting my stuff back when I was burgled, and I have been inconvenienced by their revenue-raising efforts a few times.
The problem, as I see it, with the bronze, is that they are mainly interested in meeting their quota of fines for the day regardless of the actual need...
Take "drug" charges for example. This might mean bikies cooking up a batch of meth, or some schoolkids blowing a reefer behind the bikeshed. Most police would prefer to achieve their target by going for the kids, rather than the more difficult customers.

The old bloke at the Mareeba Military Museum told me a good story. A bike cop pulled a bloke over for something petty, after a bit of discourse the bloke said "are you sure you want to book me?" , the cop applied in the affirmative and booked the bloke.

The bloke then asked the cop if he was finished and got a positive reply. Bloke then said "I`m a Workplace Health & Safety Officer and I have to fine you $600 for unsafe practice, standing on the line delineating the traffic lane while you filled in your paperwork."

I don`t know for sure, but I really hope it`s true.

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
they just doing there job the same as all the rest of us except theres is a lot harder,
speak to a police officer with respect and nicely and you would be surprised how a sudden fine can turn to a warning.
you would probably be giving out fines alot to if you have seen car crash's where a kid has been killed by a speeding driver and than they see you speeding there job is to prevent it
live with it or ride a bike with a helmet cause they probably seen heads smashed over the pavement as well so when u think to have a whinge about the police think bout the stuff they have to see all the time and than think how you would react to prevent seeing more of it

i used to have the small minded way of thinking some of you have than i thought bout it

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
two cars in front of me turning right at a green light stopped i was passing on the left side at about 50k's
when the light turned yellow no chance of stopping in that distance ,the first car was a unmarked police car i was pulled up and fined $225 and three points ,i have been driving for 51yrs and in that time have caused no accidents or been fined for any offence .
all this was just revenue raising and most likely a few short on there kill sheet i for one will never trust or help a copper as long as i live, it is almost impossible to drive with out going through a yellow light at some time or another, how this episode can reduce the road toll
is beyond me,they would be better out where the accidents are happening instead of hiding around the bottom of hills or near 40- 60 zones

That's right stumpsand. There are some revenue raisers out there who love traffic violations but I for one, have given more warnings than tickets. If you want to continue to tar us all with the one brush and say you would never help Police out, then make sure you never call Police should you get into trouble as that would simply make you a hypocrite now wouldn't it?
How you doing Ben......haven't seen you about for a while.

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
Qld cops don't want to do the job their pay for. Recently had reason to call them about abusive neighbour who invaded my property and assaulted me. Attending officer (I took note of his name & rank) refused to arrest and charge offender. Told me it wasn't trespass because I don't have a front fence (??) and I had no witnesses to the assault. This is not an isolated incident as only a few days later, a similar event was reported by another citizen living in our town. No front fence, no trespass. In the other case, man was told it wasn't trespass unless it was a home invasion! Another case of the law protecting the guilty and the cops get out of work!

helga6518, don't blame the Police, they don't make the laws. I can't comment on the assault complaint as I wasn't there and there is always two sides to every story. Especially when it involves neighbour disputes.

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
A few weeks back in Cairns, an aborigine bashed an old lady to death for no reason, and he's not been caught yet. Last weekend, a young woman was bashed and dragged into the bushes and assaulted sexually, nobody has been caught there either.

Today alone, I have seen several police cars on the road handing out fines and manning the speed cameras. I am confident that if I drove a little too fast down a hill, or had to overtake a truck at speed or something, its unlikely I would have gotten away with it.

I'm not saying abandon all traffic patrols and simply hope for the best, but unfortunately the role of police has been watered down to mainly raising revenue and doing police work as a last resort.

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
It is also pointless trying to get police and politicians to see commonsense,eg a single vehicle driving on the correct side of the road exceeds the "limit "and is fined by an officer who happens to have been coming in the opposite direction but 3klms away . where is the danger from the 'speeding' vehicle .
If you go to court to fight the accusation,it costs several days and you still get a fine and the demerit points which you have to wear for THREE years .
The people who draft these "laws" are obviously drawn from the group who meekly just obey the laws/rules without questioning the reason for their existance in the first place.
In europe it is not illegal to exceed the limits when passing another vehicle on a highway ,safe driving and common sense do prevail in some countries not here.

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
I was recently bashed by one of these upstanding queensland police officers. When my 14 year old son yelled at them to stop they arrested him for public nuisance (in our own home). This happened in January 09, every time I see a cop now I have a panic attack, I have lost 30kgs due to the stress. The officer threatened to destroy me professionally and personally. I lost my job due to him and my personal life has suffered. The fitzgerald enquiry didnt stop anything, it just delayed things for a while, as corruption is obviously wide spread. I am sure that are genuine decent cops out there, but with workplace bullying it makes it impossible to dob in a cop mate.

Re:Your experience with Queensland Polic ... Reply to this message
Every encoucter I've had with police they've been arrogant naz-is. Insisting on milking every traffic offense they can.

My self I've only been pulled over for speeding once, but one cop pulled over my grandma for doing a U-Turn at a traffic light with a green right arrow and no other traffic. He was a real *** about it too.

Police are good to have around, but not when they are LOOKING to bust good citizens for very minor infactions.
