Can anyone explain why we have spent billions on a system to "level" storage space within our dams so as not to waste water which does not work ?? Water is being released from a dam today because it is 100% full. I thought the billion dollar system was supposed to transfer water between storage spaces so we wasted none. Our average capacity is 75 % at the moment. Why could this water flooding out of the "full" storage not be sent to another dam. The cost in providing this system was billions over budget too. We certainly got what we deserved with Anna.

There is no water crisis nor ever has been. The only'crisis' is to do with lack of intelligence on the part of elected & unelected officials. I have a 425m2 block (16 perches for wrinklies) & 18000 litre storage. I don't make any attempt to conserve water, NEVER have less than two 20 minute showers per day, wash my cars whenever I wish, water the garden whenever I wish, have had the mains supply off for over four years & have never got lower than 60% tank capacity. For the information of those who 'don't have room for a tank', mine are above ground & unobtrusive to the point of being invisible without concerted search.
