Hello, Im doing some reseach on Queensland Police powers and hopefully some people may help me,
First, It states on numerous websites that Queensland police must supply their name, number, rank and station if requested by a member of the public, but can anyone actually tell me what legislation or act makes this law?
Second, what is the difference bewteen arrest and detaining a person for questioning? |

You fail to mention the odd incident where an unarmed suspect is blown away or tasered to death, a steering lock is confused with a firearm, or a cop gets to sit in airconditioned comfort for hours reading their porn whilst operating a 'flash for cash' unit. |

| Yes, the ODD incident! You have to remember that Police are only human and on the ODD occasion, mistakes are made. Obviously these incidents have brought about Police attention in the first place and at the end of the day, Police are going to go home to their families before some drugged up freak tripping out or some mental health unit who thinks they can go off their medication and function as a rational person. Taser is still a better option than a gun. How many people have died as a result of being tasered as opposed to being shot? No matter what you do, you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. There will always be the do gooder critic out there that thinks there could have been a better option but who have never had to personally be put in that situation to have any idea how they would react, typical! |

If only tasers were only used where a only gun would have been. Seems they are now used whenever and wherever a member of the public doesn't cow-tow immediately to what is euphemistically called 'heavy handed' policing.
Their victims also have homes and families to go to. Being tasered, shot, beaten up is never a legitimate punishment, no matter what a person did. And any police officer who thinks differently should not be in the force. |

| The oinkers can (and often do) hold anyone for months before trial. Its simply a matter of telling a magistrate 'we are still collecting evidence'. When the oinkers wish to hold someone indefinitely without trial, all they need to do is invent a terrorism charge. |

| I wouldn't expect a blonde porker to admit the truth even if she was aware of it. I do however have interests that give me first hand knowledge of what goes on in places the general public never get to see. |

| We should have zero tolerance of ANY official misconduct, not only police brutality. People in a position of trust should conform to a significantly higher standard than the hoi polloi & saying 'they are only human' is NOT a reasonable excuse. Extremely heavy penalties should apply to any cop, politician, magistrate or judge who steps outside the law they are expected to uphold. If these people don't wish to conform they should seek more suitable employment, like footbrawler, bouncer, used car salesperson, insurance salesperson, snake oil salesperson or loan shark. |
