| I lived in Dalby in the early 1960s and hated every minute. Being several hundred kilometers from the coast it gets weather extremes, like iced over creeks in winter & Sahara type temperatures in summer. The town has plenty of agricultural support type businesses, heaps of public & private schools and a big hospital however so there is probably no shortage of blue collar work. Roads are unbelievably dreadful due to the black clay that expands & contracts when it gets wet, so there are more waves in the road than in the Pacific Ocean !!! Good place to ride a bicycle because its flatter than a billiard table, just don't try going on non-sealed surfaces when wet because you'll only get a few metres before everything clogs up. Every step you walk on wet black clay makes you 50mm taller. |

i would like to give you all a Big Heads up here.
DO NOT BUY A HOUSE NOW !! the housing market in Australia is Going to BANG !! and house prises are going to fall in a very big way indeed. in 2010 in the first quarter the whole housing market is going to drop by at least 50% the bigest housing drop in Australian history !! do the maths and you will see Australians can no longer afford the very overpriced houses they buy. ignore my advice at your perril, you have been warned... do not buy.

| Plenty of acreage housing under $20,000 in the Tara area. Whilst I'm the first to agree that Brisbane houses are horrendously overpriced, I can't imagine any decrease occurring in the under $500,000 bracket due to the ever increasing mexican invasion. I'll be putting some properties on the market in early 2010 & fully expect to make HUGE gains on purchase prices (like 700% in less than ten years) Maybe million dollar properties could suffer a bit if the asian invasion slows but I wouldn't bet on anything significant. |
