| Couldn't those figure be a little deceptive in that heaps of people could be less than 3 months behind on the mortgage but have 10 credit cards maxed out. |

Yes that is true but there is probably no way to relate the two.
I am constantly maxed out on my cards but this does not mean that I am finacially stressed. It means that I use the banks money to pay my bills and then pay them back at the end of the month like a lot of people do these days. |

| Try Victoria, better weather, better value for money, more down to earth, realistic prces. Qld housing prices are far far too high, I don't know why, maybe we think we are better than other states. |

| TRY UP NOTH PASSED BRISBANE. THE FURTHER YOU GO NORTH YOU MIGHT FIND SOMETHING. BUT I HAVE FOUND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH DOCTORS UP NORTH AND THEY CANNOT GET ANY TO WORK THERE. BOOK A DOCTOR AND IT TAKES 3 WEEKS TO SEE THEM NOT GOOD. |

| Look around you can still find good value blocks of land. Then if you don't like the idea of being an owner builder with a kit home, you could always consider a factory built home. Delivered and stumped some of them are not just good value but can be just as nice as having a home built on site. |

Yesterday was better than today and today is better than tommorow. The sooner you get into the housing market the better. Property price are not going to drop, if anything they might remain steady for the next 12 to 24 months. And look at interest rates at the moment...so low.
Try looking at Grasstree Beach (near Mackay). Family community, close to Dr and Hospital, free School Bus for the kids. Agriculture classes at the school. Look it up, It is affordable, and remember, make an offer of what you want to pay, ignore what the asking price is, you might get lucky, I did! |

Why on earth are the houses in qld sooo expensive?
i understand why in some countries why their houses are
$200,000 to 1 million,,,,,thats because they have like a vast high tech industries all around them less than 20mins by car.
over in queensland and even other states.... all property seem to be inflated and are overvalued way above their true cost.from what i see an average house in queensland is around $350,000 which i find ridiculous even if its made outa brick.the reason being is that its only surrounded by 2 or 3 factories and followed by a couplea dozen of support companies(cottage industries with 20 max people)
in most countries they have decent pricing for their housing,.,,take usa.it has affordable housing in the $100,000 range and its all fully paid!and its surrounded by a huge hugh tech industry from aerospace to ultra high tech industries!and when u line up all those industries and many factories in that single town.....it would alone engulf all of the industries in the entire of australia.
it is quite sickening to see how australia which has no industries could actually dare to even put a land price like as if its surrounded by high tech industries and vast amount of productive high tech industries.
i say a land with a brick house should be less than $100,00 or in that range.i dont find it worth a cent more with the scarcity of any industries surrounding it.in fact i see aussie land being worth less than that of usa and zimbabwe due to lack of industries amongst other reasons. |

| QLD houses are so expensive because of demand. There's hundreds of southerners migrating to Qld every week. Housing becomes scarce. There is more demand for it. Prices go up. It's a simple concept, really. |

| It's not about the area having industry. It's about availability of water and services and the fact that a lot of people WANT to live in areas devoid of industry. If you want to find somewhere super cheap and you don't care about the availability of services/employment in the area, try some of the western Qld towns like Pentland and Hughenden and outer lying areas. Look in the areas that the southern migrants aren't interested in. |

"take usa.it has affordable housing in the $100,000 range"
And what standard of building do they get for that? It's all DIY plumbing and electrical and fake tile rooves.
All Qld houses are built to a specific code and have to be able to withstand a category 3 cyclone.
A lot of building materials have to be freighted up from southern centres. It all adds to the cost. |

"All Qld houses are built to a specific code and have to be able to withstand a category 3 cyclone."
Half the population around here live in sheds on a few acres. The local council estimates there's seven hundred of them that have become permanent dwellings.
$70k will buy you about 7 acres with a dam, an insulated 3 room aluminium clad shed on a slab and a generator hooked up out of earshot.
No town water, power or sewerage. |
