Keep wipeing the brand names off your shelves and replacing them with the Woolworths brand and we will be shopping at IGA. Went to buy Master Foods Tartare Sauce and they had taken off the shelves and all you could if you wanted tartare was the Woolworths crap.

I don't care what someone's motivation is for fundraising, all I care about is that it gets to the right place..

I used to work for Woolworths corporate for a long while, and have seen first hand the bully boy tactics they use on small growers and businesses.. they wear them into the ground, make false promises.. anything to keep the profit margin up, and they don't care who they destroy in the process.. it wasn't always the way, but since the merger of big w and woolies management, and the appointment of of a certain CEO whose name I will not mention, the company has certainly become quite cutthroat

I find it strange that people do not expect some measure of commercialism when involved with what is after all a money making excercise. Woolies does nothing without a reason and why would they?

Woolies. All smiles and lovely jingle music through their adds.

Behind the scenes they do everything they can to wipe small business off the planet. Once they do it, they jack their prices up.

Look at how many farmers go broke, or even dig up their crops because it`s no longer profitable to sell to Woolworths. Yet see how much more Woolworths sell the farmers goods for.

Look how Woolworths have now pushed their way into petrol, liquor, Newsagency and soon chemists as they wipe out the little people.

When all small businesses are gone and Woolworths remain, watch the prices elevate. Woolworths drop their prices only to wipe out the smaller competitors, then jack them up once they`re gone.

Don`t be fooled by the greedy giants! Support your local business people. The fruit shops, grog, newsagents and butchers because they`re the ones that are keeping prices down and not Woolworths or Coles.

Once the little guys are gone, the big guys jack the prices up!
It`s happening now in areas where the little guys have been wiped out.

I made a decision years ago not to do business with either Coles / Myer or with Woolworths. Neither company has any concept of fair play.

Re:Back Of Woolworths. Reply to this message
You would think that self serve checkouts should be there for people who have only got a basket full of shopping rather than a huge trolley load.Nothing more annoying than having to queue up in the so called "express" line which is at times 25-30 people long, when you only have a dozen things in your basket. REASON..The self serve checkouts are being used by inconsiderate people with absolutely chock-o-block trolleys. It takes them nearly a good 1/2 hour to process their purchases!
And the other thing is,when woolies install 6 self serve checkouts, they reduce the express checkouts by 2 or 3 tills!
Sheer stupidity and bloodymindedness!

I voted with my feet & took my business elsewhere. For what its worth, if a company doesn't make it safe and convenient for me to shop there, I figure they don't want my custom. Thats why I avoid BIG shopping centres .... far too many of the 'igmoramus mororista' & 'ignoramus parkista' species there.

As if I want to pay more and more each week, to then serve myself a trolley full! That's part of the service!

Re:Back Of Woolworths. Reply to this message
Nevertheless its a good ploy on the part of Coles & Woolworths. Heads they win / tails the customer loses. Some beancounter probably got a significant bonus for dreaming up that scheme !!!

And they look at you all suspiciously as you serve yourself, and peer over your shoulder.

I've only ever got conned into the self serve nonsense once (Woolworths Taigum) & if my memory is correct I needed to scan the barcodes. To make a profit it seems you'd need to switch barcodes around.

And they have a staff member there to "supervise"your purchases.More likely to make sure you dont place items in your bag without scanning them!

I won't use the self serve checkouts..i often get directed to them but i decline...every time someone gets used to using the self service, jobs are lost...they charge enough money for groceries, now they want us to pack them too..nope

1984........Here we come!!

Not at all...in 1984, you could expect service...expect a bag for your purchases...why should i scan my groceries myself...if i have a shop , i would be expected to serve my customers...they want to ban plastic bags but everything you buy is wrapped in some kind of plastic..cheese, meat, frozen section..all in plastic..it's a rort to make you buy their bags .....every time you scan your own groceries, 3/4 ppl are out of a job..it only takes one person to watch and help you through the self scanner and there is usually 8 self scanners per store

"Sioned Rees Thomas from Coles says customers are demanding more environmentally friendly bags.

"Customers have told us they want a broader choice of bags. So we have introduced a $0.15 reusable plastic bag and a $0.25 biodegrable plastic bag," she says.

But the fact is plastic bags make up less than one per cent of land fill.

The rest comes from what we put in our shopping bags — plastic wrapped capsicum, plastic wrapped lettuce, mushrooms, peas... The list goes on.

Just another rort to make more money
