| Seriously affronted to be asked at the checkout do I want to contribute to charity.(Childrens Hospital) I will decide when and where to contribute and to which charity,I strongly object to being used as a source so Woollies can feel good about themselves in this area. I would hope the "embarrasment factor" was NOT part of the decision to do this , Woolies and their ever growing profits from a variety of businesses should not be using their customers to boost their own image. |

| Well it obvious to see that you don't care about anyone but yourself. Anyone with half a heart can donate two measley dollars to sick dying children. If it wasn't for woolworths doing the fundraising for sick children imagine how much money the chilldren would miss out on and for your information woolworths donate a large sum of their profits to charitable events such as the fundraising for Princess Margret Hospital and the fundraising for Austrailain farmers. So think before you speak and find out a little info before you go saying this and that you ignorant idiot. |

| Hey Alex.I have to agree with you with the ammount of charity donations that Woolworths give and yes they DO raise alot of money, but,I have to draw the line with check out operators tin rattling.Put a fund raising person at the door by all means. Two measly dollars as you put it could be the difference with a single parent feeding their family for 7 days instead of 6.Do you see where I'm coming from?I've been a long distance truckie for 30 years and I donate VERY heavily to The Royal Flying Doctor and Princess Margaret Hospital each year.If it wasn't for them my oldest Son would not be here today.I know where you are coming from and I understand you, but, a super market checkout is really NOT the place nor the time.Oh, and by the way my whole family are Farmers. You have a "Good One" |

Woolies. All smiles and lovely jingle music through their adds.
Behind the scenes they do everything they can to wipe small business off the planet. Once they do it, they jack their prices up.
Look at how many farmers go broke, or even dig up their crops because it`s no longer profitable to sell to Woolworths. Yet see how much more Woolworths seel the farmers goods for.
Look how Woolworths have now pushed their way into petrol, liquor, Newsagency and soon chemists as they wipe out the little people.
When all are gone and Woolworths remain, watch the prices elevate.
It`s happening now in areas where the little guys have been wiped out. |

| Speak and find out a little info ............ignorant idiot. Well what a spray and from someone who has problems reading too. IF you had read what I said you little charmer you would have seen I give to whom I want when I want and sleep easily at nights knowing I more than do my bit. What I object to is that Woolworths will use our donations to raise their profile. I do not need public acclaim or even thanks in many cases for the charity I give to or the randon acts of kindness I perform. I actually get a nice warm fuzzy feeling correcting someone who shoots from the hip like yourself with out reading or possibly understanding what you have read. Have a nice day. |

I agree with qwertyhh40 and I now set about going to the markets on the weekend to buy my FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES, instead of the old stale crap that Woolworths try and sell to their customers and by going to the markets and getting fresh stuff, you are supporting the farmers who are doing it tough.
Woolworths, Coles, only think of themselves and don't give a dam about the rest and walk over everyone else. |

Your proberly the person who comes in and whinges about how expensive and crap our fruit and vegies ares , and says he never come back . and the next day comes in to do it all over again. I bet you buy our fuel too. Then go out to ACA and get some money for you BS story of how crap our store is. |

Woolworths and Coles currently own 70% of the grocery stores australia wide. They still however do their best to wipe out the remaining 30%. This is obvious to everyone for this reason.
Areas where there is competition for fruit, vegies and groceries, petrol, they will always go below what the small competitors are asking in an attempt to wipe them out. yet areas where there are no competitors these large variety stores will not drop their prices.
So yes, you buy an item like bananas at a store for $1.99kg, then two suburbs to the west, bananas will be $3.99kg. This is because they`ve already wiped out the competition. It`s the same with petrol and grog too.
Make no mistake. They`ve done it with fruit and vegies, they`ve done it with butchers, they`ve done it with grog. Now they`re going to try and do it with petrol, newsagents, and chemists.
So I ask all of you, to stick with the little guys. Woolies will make out that they`re family people but what sort of family wipes out another families business by there own greed.
The discounted petol, grog an groceries wil only be around while competition exists. Don`t let these greedy big business slimeballs take everythng.
Pay the etra few bux and keep the competition and small business owners around. |

| Well they make nice roasted chickens, but personally I prefer to shop at coles because they make much nicer donuts. Besides, their shop is nicer with wider isles, and they have far superior birds working the checkouts. |

| Yeah, and I really appreciate the efforts they make, in order to sell me a packet of wheat bix or the suchlike, but howsoever, there is generally not the diversity of choice in a small business...You know how it is, basket full of groceries, butterflies churning in the stomach, trying to decide which checkout to go in... nah, someone in that isle is paying their gas bill with eftpos, not that one, theres a pensioner paying in 5c coins and talking about the war...whoa! hows about that hottie in isle 7! nah, as she picks her nose with a dumb look on her face... |

| It is a bit off the initial topic but has everyone noticed that butchers and fruit shops are popping up just outside the main door of coles and woolworths and ,from visual observation only, appear to be doing very well thank you very much. Good to see that there can be opposition to the two giants and ALDI are giving them a bloody nose too. |

| Steven Jordan Woolworths fresh fruit and vegetables is CRAP. The beans are always soft and freezer damaged, along with a few others. I shop there every week but don't buy my greens or much meat from Woolworths. Price is not an option, so you can forget that one too. So I still say to everyone "Buy your fruit and vegetables straight from the farmer at the markets as it is cheaper than Woolworths. |

I`d like to add that we should all avoid Woolworths Petrol. Don`t be fooled by the 4c discount because your already paying for that when you shop at the supermarket.
Remember when they have wiped out the small competition, the prices will all go up!
Pay the extra few cents now and you`ll prevent a massive hike in price later!
Shell is Coles, Caltex is Woolworths. remeber that and go for the other brands like BP, United etc. |

| Guess what else some Woolworths supermarkets are doing?, they take the plastic wrapper off your packets of tea you buy and by the time you get it, the flavour has gone out of the tea because it has gone stale. It wasn't until I went to another Woolworths stall did I discover this and because the packet of tea bags was still wrapped, it tasted a whole lot better with more flavour. So if you can find a shop that sells the tea still with it wrapper on, buy a few packets to last you because it will be well worth it. |

| for your information woolworths does not wipe small business they do it to themselves by not offering new things and no being able to be competitive with companies like woolworths if they could do things like that and offer lower prices which would increase sales then they would be able to stay in the market and compete with woolies and possibly be better than them. |
