I am new to this forum. My hubby has been offered a job with Queensland Rail and one of the places he could be based is Mackay.
We are currently in the UK and hope to move in the next 12wks. I am 20 wks pregnant so we cant leave it much longer than that.
I have read a lot of posts on here which are saying the rental market is hard to get onto. We are not buying as we are keeping our property in the UK. So renting is the only option until we have saved for a few years and decided where it is we want to live.
We have worked and lived in Melbourne already and wanted to try another part of Australia.
I guess my main question is how easy is it to get rented accommodation in Mackay. We are willing to commute but only 30 mins drive max. We dont want to be too out in the sticks but we can cope with a small town as long as it has facilities. We have a 3 yr old in tow too.
I am worrying that I will be giving birth with no fixed abode! We are getting a relocation package so hopefully the company will help us to find somewhere. I guess we could stay in short term holiday accommodation but again I read this is not in abundance since the floods
Any info greatly appreciated
