Yes, support the intervention.
More important is to demand both the NTG and the Aust Gov treat Australians equaly, not subjecting them to preferences based upon racial tags. |

How is this joe.king9 ?
More important is for ALL Australians - who subscribe to the principal of equality of opportunity, do loudly demand both the NTG and the Aust Gov treat Australians equaly, not subjecting them to preferences based upon racial tags.
Now we need make sure we agree on what equality of opportunity means...

Equality of opportunity in my home town of Katherine only exists for white skinned people.
An indigenous and non-indigenous person turn up for a job interview and although both have the same qualifications who do you think gets the job? |

In our business we employed others, all local, all on casual rates - this what could afford and it suited those we employed; Largely because we paid very well above the award wages found no shortage of locals happy to work part time for us as earned more than our competitors paid their full time workers.
Certainly cases of racism occur from time to time.
The number of claims made and investigated which result in upholding of claims are not high enough to reflect your claim of prejudice.
Employers are very cautious about leaving themselves open to claims of racism, so usually very careful not to leave themselves exposed to such claims - given they can be hard to dispute.
Employers employ to do a job, taking into account anything and everything which may interfere with getting the job done, and long term problems.
This can be a problem for locals IF they are felt to be - or associate with, people who do not reflect preparedness to work so get jobs done as sort by employers.
Some businesses do prefer to employ tourists, because the tourists are only there for a short time so carry less build up of long term liabilities. Short term tourist workers seek to add to their budget to continue their touring and generally are seen as good workers, often presenting lists of checkable references to support their applications.
Seeking short term employment then can place locals at a disadvantage, unless they have a local image supporting their claim to be someone who does work well and hard...
In small communities this can be a disadvantage.
So when have known young ones prepared to work finding such problems often suggested they go somewhere else to learn and find work where their relationship baggage would not be a problem to them.

Mick Dudsod is at it again. He says in that article "Quarantining welfare was a "limited tool" that would not change people's behaviour." yet by quarantining welfare payments stops people spending the money on grog etc. That is a POSITIVE change in people's behaviour!!!
As usual, the mouth in the black hat doesn't make any POSITIVE suggestions as alternatives.
OK, lets do it Dudsod's way; give 'em all back their welfare money to piddle up against the wall and before we know it, he'll be back grizzling about the poor buggers not being looked after.
Yeah, right on Dudsod, lets reinstate the Racial Discrimination Act and let them have full access to alcohol and pornography and we will be right back to square one again. Bloody brilliant!!! No wonder he's an HONORARY professor. Hasn't got a bloody clue!!! |

Seems the new poster mate of Ropes doesn't like my posts. This little joke (small J) has said he believes in censorship. What a tool. |

It would be nice to see serious presentation of the facts so we can have reasonable discussion of the issues related to "full access to alcohol" .
People do NOT have full access to alcohol in the communities, so people who wish to have a drink go to nearest town/pub.
Is trouble happening where they are served ?
IMHO not where existing laws re serving intoxicated people are enforced.
Where is trouble occuring ?
IMHO most trouble occurs where drinkers buy takeaway then moved to where less restriction on them getting drunk...
IMHO most people see exists a connection between unsupervised, uncontrolled drinking, then drunks causing trouble.
Need controlled consumption for people to NOT become so intoxicated they can try use excuse of being blind drunk.
With such control, required behavior does changes because inappropriate behavior can immediately stop grog supply to offenders.
Licensees need stop grog supply to troublemakers quickly as condition to maintain their licences.
NON-offenders, non-troublemakers need be able to drink in these supervised environments.

Pinky Dudson is a dead set big noter who lives in Canberra.
I recall the day he stood up and said he was ready to work with John Howard on Aboriginal issues. He wasn't chosen.
He said the following in the address you posted;
"I don't know ... why a modern democracy like Australia, a prosperous country, a very rich country, has to resort to racial discrimination to achieve public policy objectives?" he said.
"That's just outrageous."
It should be patently obvious to anyone that this bloke just does not have a clue about life in communities in the NT.
How in the name of sweet Jesus does he get to be a professor of 'Aboriginal studies'?
And it is his type that governments ask for advice about Aboriginal matters. |

If I had anyway of getting that dope sacked I would not hesitate to do it. Like you, he says all the wrong things, however he says them because he hasn't got a clue.
You say them because you do not like your race, and because you do not understand things very well. You have been brainwashed and do not know it. |

As I explained to your pal, Jokes, I acted after you posted what you thought was my address, here. That's a no no son, even if the address is wrong.
You said you were a 'legend' in your community and you invited me, no, dared me, to act.
You posted your superior's names for me to contact, remember. You were invincible, aye. A legend in his own mind.
And getting you sacked was not my intention. Getting you to wake up and smell the roses, was.
And here you are again, without ever having smelt a single one by the look of it.
Your mate reckons I had you blacklisted here. How would I be able to do that? Even though you had stated you would try and do so to me, and suggested I should do the same.
Next time Ropes, check out the meaning of the word hypocrite before you go running off at the mouth. |

"How in the name of sweet Jesus does he get to be a professor of 'Aboriginal studies'?

He is a token Aboriginal figurehead. The Government has to be seen to be "consulting" Aboriginal people so they ask him. They can be reasonably sure he'll say what they want to hear.
"you're the one who hasn't got a clue, "HONORARY" or not he is still doing better then you"
That depends on what you use as your yardstick. At least all of the qualifications I have, I have EARNT which is more than can be said of the token Aboriginal "intellectual" Government puppet in his big black hat! |
