where i come from i am a legend, nobody before me and possibly after me will ever achieve the status i have gained
by being allowed to witness a sacred cultural ceremony, i have seen gods and held them in my hands, |

Well, what can someone say about this legend in his own mind. Gee!
""believe me mate there would be little talk if you met any member of my family, only then would you be justifed in saying that aboriginal society is violent, get my drift.""
"" only then would you be justifed in saying that aboriginal society is violent, get my drift.""
But surely you are not saying your family would cause violence upon me if I happened to meet one one day, are you?
That's not very nice. Someone might get hurt.
I will have to send this to my adult sons, because it it appears you are suggesting that I may be in danger if a member of your family happens to cross my path.
And that includes my son who is a member of the Police Force, because if anything happens to me they will need to know where to go.
But I probably won't do that. There are other options. |

there are many people black and white who find your one-eyed views offensive and if as you say that every aboriginal person is violent you have sort of dug your own hole, eh mate |

I didn't think that was very scary, just telling it the way it is.
When lightly veiled threats are made here by someone who thinks they know where you live, and implies that all his family and friends wish you harm should your paths cross, then I feel stating some home truths is warranted.
Perhaps you would react differently? Perhaps reply in a similar vein and see your post, or the whole thread, deleted. |

By Ropes;
""there are many people black and white who find your one-eyed views offensive and if as you say that every aboriginal person is violent you have sort of dug your own hole, eh mate""
and a couple of days ago;
""my wife and extended family which includes every member of my community know the truth and that truth is that the indigenous people were invaded by a violent society that first stole the land and systematically set out to kill of every black person they came across.""
And Ropes has the temerity to call my views, which incidentally are backed up by facts on a number of threads here, one eyed and offensive.
Ropes has been telling his lies to the community for so long now he probably believes them himself. But that doesn't excuse him for continuing to do so. |

And you believe bludging of Aboriginals for 32 years doesn't make you a racist ? What's your fear ? The fear of having to get a real job and actually contributing to society instead of being a parasite ?
If ignorance is bliss you must be in heaven |

Racism is caused by fear
In some cases racism can generate such an enormous amount of anger that it can cause a war. The thing that causes this anger is mainly fear. Fear that the stranger will take your house, your job, your wife. You don’t know who this stranger is, and he doesn’t know you. To fight racism we have to get to know each other and learn more about each other’s cultures. We have got to share each other’s joys, but also learn that we often have the same problems and worries.

And how will the average Aussie do that when the land councils prevent them from even driving through a community. And the current CEO of the NLC, Kim Hill, is on record as saying he doesn't want white people talking to Ab in remote communities.
As usual it is all one way. We give, they take, and nothing in reverse. Just look at the land councils not wanting tourists to be allowed to have a drink in national parks now. All because so many Ab do not drink responsibly and have had restrictions placed upon some communities to slow the violence grog causes. |

Sacred sites plan 'delays' fire season efforts
Posted 8 hours 4 minutes ago
* Map: Alice Springs 0870
The Alice Springs Town Council says it has had to delay preparations for the next fire season because of issues with the Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority.
The council has expressed concern that the authority wants to charge a fee of almost $38,000 to do sacred sites assessments in the Todd River as part of the council's new fire management plan.
Council CEO Rex Mooney says the council has written to the Northern Territory's Indigenous Policy Minister, Malarndirri McCarthy, asking her to intervene.
"It's a time imperative now but the council just has to now await the outcome," he said.
"The council has given a deadline of the middle of October to seek a response from the Minister and the council will be reviewing the situation at its October council meeting, just to see what other options might be available if a deal can be brokered."
~~~
Like I said, we give they take. $38,000, what a joke. It's exactly the same thing all over the NT where Ab organisations are involved. It's all gimme, gimme.
I would add though that these people are not the average black person living in a community, as a rule. Often it's the white educated ones, of part descent, which think up these lurks. |
Instead of doing assessments on the sacred sites perhaps they should just let them burn?
If they want to ban people from their communities perhaps they should be banned from the towns and cities?
That would be fair wouldn't it or would it be racist?
One country, one law for EVERYBODY. No one is that special that they DESERVE special treatment, especially bludgers and sooks. |
To even pass through a Ab community legally, one has to sign a few pages of conditions on a form issued by the Land Council. Some include taking your rubbish with you, no fishing, camping, swimming etc etc, and of course no grog.
However when these people come into Darwin, Katherine Alice etc, there are no conditions attached at all. Only the conditions we all have to obey, the laws of the land.
Many of these people do not obey these common laws, and leave piles of rubbish and empty beer cans, wine casks and bottles etc wherever they congregate. Illegal camping is the norm, and drunkenness the daily experience for many.
In Tuesdays NT NEWS Letters section, a tourist from Vic, Will Hampton, wrote about his families experience in Katherine. Quote;
'People staggering, yelling, fighting, passing out in the main street is not a good look - the locals are used to it and don't notice it but something definitely needs to be done.'
And another letter on the same day by Siggi Houdek says;
'Once again the majority of the population of the NT and it's visitors have to bow to the misdeeds of a small minority.
If grog bans in Territory parks are to be introduced how is this going to be policed?
There are laws in place that prohibit drinking of grog in a 2km radius around every pub and liquor outlet.
Why is this not enforced? All that is going to happen is that the offenders move out of there and into population centres to cause the same problems.
If elders are so concerned about the behaviour of some of their community members and hold the authority they purport to hold, dish out traditional law instead of taking away the enjoyment of our parks.' |
Whoops, Ropes to the rescue, blinkers firmly attached to head and no looking left or right either.
"who's country was it in the first place."
Well son it wasn't the current lot's, they took it from the first lot, and we have been sharing it with them, mind you in the NT we have given over half of it back.
And hasn't that made a wonderful change for the better! NOT!!!! |
