| since the 1980s MVR has had a few counter surveys on a preferred speed limit and the preferred average for a speed limit????? 130 KPH. I wonder if that is where Clair got it from. Muzzle velocity of some firearms is 140/150 kph & some of people argue it is quite safe to drive above these speeds on a public road. |

Terratorian life style ??????????
What life style, that was the very thing I loved about the Territory as I grew up, the freedom to not be part of a group, to not have to identify myself as a person from anywhere.
Rubbish to suggestion that Clair Martin is taking away anyone’s opportunity to enjoy their lives and the freedom humans have in the Territory.
If that’s what you base your life style on, a boat ramp and a few silly little things like that, then you have big problems.
I don’t suppose that personal freedoms and human rights would feature largely in your life, and on that topic you might care to remember what it was like living with Shane Leslie Stone and his idea that the doctrine of the separation of powers needed to be modified.
I don’t suppose by any chance that could have ever impacted on your lotus eating habits?
Oh oh oh, my Territorian life style.........
The right to go fishing, the right to travel in a car at 200 kph......
The right to prosecute mothers when their children are taken by wild animals.........
The right to be an insular reactionary redneck....
Hmmmmmmmmmm |

Bring back reality..
So your present experience is not 'real'.........
Ok, then why should anyone listen to you.
Come to think of it, why would I respond to you, clearly you are in a state of unreality and thats that........
Or is it that you want everyone else to obay your version of reality.
Now that would be truely UNREAL, would it not?

O jee, I want to blast down the PUBLIC road (shared by others) in my big V8 at any speed I like, irrespective of the danger to others, and have my little half cut brain dictate to the whole world my perception of what it means to drive safely...............
I don't agree with you, 130kmph hour is FINE

No speed limits = people don't look at their speedos as often, therefore there is a higher chance that they'll be looking at the road, therefore there is a lower chance they'll crash into something. There is nothing wrong with open speed limits. People speed anyway. Even if there are speed limits.
Ban something and we'll want it ten times as much. It's in our nature. Give us the freedom and then everyone gets over it.
It's usually people that lack common sense that take advantage of the open speed limits and are also the idiots that reck it for the rest of us. |

| I also live in the northern territory in Alice Springs, well i think it doesn't really matter if they reduce or leave the speed limit in this territory. There are still people being killed on these roads and most times it isn't a speed factor it is also lack of road knowledge on our roads. Unfortunatley we lost a local from alice on new year's day of Claire Martin making speed restrictions and this poor lady lost her life doing the right thing... Yes having a speed to 130km/hr instead of open would help maybe reduce some of the silly people who abuse the speed and place their lives and other oncoming vehicles at risk |

| The NT has lost a few tourism dollars from the car manufacturers testing out their vehicles on the open-speed roads. OH, well, NT's loss is Germany's gain. |

| Yeah , give them back there open speed limits. Why not ? If they think 130 kph is not fast enough than let them go faster and then they will kill themselves then we will have somewhere to send all the non english speaking Australians then they will get eaten by crocodiles then we can send all the dole bludgers there for the same fate . Problem solved. |

| just returned from a trip to the topend(needed to get our feet warm) & the difference in drivers attitude on the highway was astounding.Heaps of caravans but no do or die efforts to pass immediately with out slowing and looking to see if safe.very few cars were traveling above 120.Over all a more relaxed & well mannered attitude by near all road users. |
