It is time Canberra was demoted to the title of bureaucratic capital only and that Sydney was offcially regonised as the true capital city of Australia.
90% of overseas visitor see Sydney as the capital.
Ask anyone overseas and they will tell you Sydney is the capital.
So in relality Sydney IS the capital of Australia. |

I did not say the people of Sydney are better (at least not on this thread)
My comment relates to FACT.
Sydney is the city seen by the world as the caital of OZ.
Sydney is the city everyone visits.
Sydney is simply the best city in OZ.
Many people do not like city living and that is OK, they find cities overwhelming and unfriendly.
I find cities like London, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Sydney etc. lively, vibrant and each one exciting in their own way |

yeah but sydney is hardly anything to those cities.. alas it may have the greatest population for a city in Australia but that hardly rates as a precursor for claiming Capital rights...check out pop. ofv other capital cities in the world..

The statement I made was and is simple facts.
Other nationalities do think Sydney is the capital.
Sydney is treat as the capital, except by the pollies and even then many meetings are held in sydney to save the trip to Canberra.
I accept sydeny is not as big as the other international cities mentioned but as far as OZ goes it is the best we have. |
