Sydney may as well be the capital anyway. I really can't see the logic of Canberra's existence, it's a country town tucked away somewhere between Melbourne and Sydney, even the main highway/freeway bypasses it.
Sydney IS the capital, only the politicians pretend otherwise. |

Sad. |

| Sydney airport is increasingly a more popular destination for international tourists than Melbourne. Just think for a minute how Australia is promoted overseas: wildlife, beaches, bushland; in short 'the great outdoors". Melbourne has no 'great outdoors' compared to Sydney. What do we in Melbourne think we are famous for? Restaurants, cafes, and cultural offerings. So where are the internationally famous destinations for cuisine & culture? Europe maybe, or Asia. Not Australia. Anyway, these days there are great restaurants, museums, and performances in every large city in the world. But what you can get ON YOUR DOORSTEP in Sydney, the national parks, the wildlife, the scenery, the beaches; you can only find in Australia. Melbourne simply has very little that is iconically Australian. It only has man-made entertainment, and that is not what people come to Australia for. |

| There are several roads leading OUT of Sydney. Surely they must qualify as something good about Sydney !!! |
