Reading in the Sun Herald, that Reba Meagher, ex Health minister in the NSW State labor Govt, her "Inflation Linked Pension" is reported to be $130,000 per year.
I feel this is way out of preportion, as most people have to wait until they are at retirement age, to get our Super Pensions, which are no way near the amount the Pollies get, I want to know why the Pollies can go out on full Super while still in their 30's, whereas most of us have to wail until we are 60 years of age.
Another Pollie is Wendy Machan, she went out on Pollies Super, and now is President of the NRMA, is she getting double payments now ?? |

I cannot see why Pollies are allowed to give themselves so much, and the real workers in the country so little.
I remember back in the mid to late 80`s the government closed down the state super scheme for many of it`s workers. This scheme enabled workers to recieve a pension for life after reaching retirement age. It also allowed injured workers to retire early on this pensin if physically incapacitated.
In the mid to late 80`s the SASS super scheme was introduced. Sass gives government employees a lump sum only, no pension if permanently disabled and most of all no pension on retirement. SASS gives retired workers a lump sum that is equivelant to around 5 or 6 years wages after reaching the minimum age of 60.
The originl scheme was a pension for life after retiring.
The pollies neve stopped giving themselves the pension super fund, and can retire up to 30 years earlier on full benefits that we don`t even get at 60 now.
How can they show their faces in public?
They all stink. |

| What you have stated is what I am getting at, the Pollies have all security and the workers have to do their best, to be a Pollie and "Retire in their 30's " is wrong !!! |

This is in addition to all the payrises they give themselves which is always far more than any government worker gets.
In addition to their wage rises they get increased travel allowances, meal allowances and living away allowances.
They are never forced to trade any of their conditions off for the outrageous rises they give themselves.
I know that many governemt workers were forced to give up certain sick leave entitlements, overtime pay and holiday conditions. Pollies only give themselves more!
It`s disgusting.
I don`t know how they can show their faces in public! |

| The recently retired Reba Maher, contributed towards her "Super" for maybe 2 terms of office, maybe 8 years, now in her 30's, she recieves a LIFETIME, INDEXED PAYMENTS, for the rest of her life, costing from now, $130,000 per Annum so if she lives to 80 years of age, she alone, with out increasing with the CPI index, will cost the NSW Tax Payer, $6.5 Million. |
