Have read a lot about the 'BAD' of Sydney on here - now tell me whats GOOD about it !
This from a KIWI mum with a son working and living in your city.
...and on my next trip over, what can I look foward too?
(I dont necessarily mean the touristy stuff) |

It does have its good points tho.

Surrounded by nature. Fantastic beaches, national parks, bushland, wildlife, fascinating geography. Easy to "escape", while still in the metro area.
For a big city, it is a paradise for surfing, fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving, bushwalking, birdwatching, picnics, scenery.
This is the BIG difference between Sydney & Melbourne. Sydney has a "great outdoors". Melbourne does not. |

| i think for years they drained all the money that sydney made off to build up other places.as a consequence sydney wollongong and newcastle became known as the rust belt. but now these 3 cities are starting to emerge again. i've been all over australia and i still call sydney and it's surrounds my home. i love it. all the other cities are pretty, but except for melbourne none of them are as interesting as sydney. |

I lived in Sydney for six years
A metaphor...
It was like the worlds longest party
All booze, drugs, mirror balls and dancing
A few interesting discussions over the night with people you never really get to know
The sun comes up eventually, you sober up, and all you see is empty drink cans and full ash-trays
That's when it's time to go home
That's when I did
Don't regret having done it though

Sydney is a big beautiful city, just like may other cities around the world.
If you do not like cities you will not like Sydney, keep away.
But if City life is for you then you will love Sydney.
It has the shows, the nightlife, the shopping, street markets, Rivers, bays, beaches, bush walks, nature reserves, national parks.
The only thing missing is History, My favourite city has to be London, dirty in places perhaps but it has the nightlife and bright lights of theatre land around Leister square and History going back to pre-Roman times.
Either you are into cities or not, if not keep away. |

I despise the city. I cant stand it and i make sure that i dont go anywhere near it unless my son needs to go to the hospital for a check up which is only 2 to 4 times a year thank god lol.
I dont like the nightlife nor do i enjoy drinking, parties. If you prefer all that cr@p then you have serious issues. Why cant people have fun without alcohol? Anyway what do i like about Sydney?
Its very simple. Absolutely nothing |

Oh royalstealth you must learn to accept everyone is not the same. You may hate cities but millions love them, getting dressed up to go for pre show drinks enjoy a good show and then of to a late supper. Strolling along a promamade or through the shopping mall.
You may hate my lifestyle but I love it.
I feel so sorry for you and your family, hiding away in some country town with no life but if that is what you really like that is fine.
Obviously you seem a depressed person, lighten up a bit and live and let live. |
