I have noticed over the past year and getting worse that people in Sydney (and maybe other cities I am not sure?) dont seem bothered about running red lights and going through No Right/Left Turn signs. I dont mean running the orange light I mean two or three cars after it has gone red.
Also blatantly obvious No Right Turn signs get ignored. You really have to check about 3 times to make sure some brain dead scum bag is not going to run you over.
If this is you I hope you get booked, go to jail, lose you job whatever. How hard is it to wait two minutes till the next green light or go up a couple of streets and turn around if you miss a turn???

While I sympathise with you,try moving to Caloundra in Queensland where there are NO police and the hoons run riot.We have our own version of Tokyo Drift 24/7 on a specific circuit running directly through the main street.Walk normally on a pedestrian crossing and you are aimed at and abused by drivers because you are TOO slow.No wonder so many people die on roads here and nothing is done about it.

I see Bad Drivers all the time around Sydney ie.speeding, running red lights, lane changes without indicating, talking on mobile phone etc. but the best of all is the parents who drive with children un-restrained while dropping off and picking up children on school crossings with no regards for other road users. Complain to the police and the reply is "not our problem but Local Council". SHAME SHAME SHAME

Don't get me started about kids in cars, if you can't restrain them properly not for the laws sake but for the safety of your child then you should not have them. I have seen a mother breast feeding a child in the front passenger seat of a car while driving along, idi0ts!

As an ex Sydney resident, come on over and see those in Perth, who have their govt. building roads that actually create a higher level of accidents...and freeways choked up with traffice lights to get on and off, and police who stop motoristsa nd then let them go, and a licensing system that lets any foreign license be converted without a fresh driving test, and large trees on all the roads (sure to kill or maim if hit)! Need I go on, WA, with possibly the highest deaths per capita in Australia have their own backward govt. to blame; or is not that Govt a reflection of the people within it...hence the term "Sand Gropers", heads in sand, groping around in the dark. Give me the efficiency of Sydney's drivers and roads anytime.

That is so true to the starter of this thread.
That is probably why there are so many motor vehicle accidents in Sydney.

I love driving around Sydney at times because of the fun I have especially when I see someone speeding behind me,I drive at the correct speed limit posted and when possible I'll try and block them just to slow them down....they do not like it but thats there problem.

Most Sydney driver do, but a unmentionable minority group seems to think they are untouchable and the NSW police have a two system approch to this group! Just watch out for certain scafted and bearded drivers with no seat belts, kids crawling all over the car whilst in motion, driving all over the road and dicing with death with no thought to other drivers. NSW POLICE STOP YOUR TWO SYSTEM APPROCH, ITS ONE LAW FOR ALL not ONE FOR THEM AND ANOTHER FOR EVERYONE ELSE!

That is probably why there are so many carshes in Sydney.
That is their problem if they are driving behind you but mu advise is to pull over and let them pass and what if tey are following you foe some reason if you let them pass then that is good for you so that they don't find out where abouts you live.

I absolutely agree and what amazes me is that its the young females that seem to be the worst offenders.

There was an interesting show on TV done in the UK where they took 4 you aggressive drives girls and boys and and addressed the problem.
How ? you ask they took them shopping

Why? because to show them the difference in there behavior.
Shopping yo don't push in you wait patiently in cues and you don't run around like an idiot. ( well true some of this does happen)
The result showed them how stupid they were.
and it worked.

My question is its not just on the road its the lack of common cutesy and sorry I blame the lack of basic disipline
now lost in schools and at home. Kids have to many rights.

That's their problem anyway if they want to risk getting into a crash from stupidity then they will suffer but they might crash into someone else and that would be careless and make the other innocent people suffer.

Re:Sydney Drivers don't obey road rules Reply to this message
i think we can blame most adults for the disregard of road rules.as i happily make my way to and from work daily i tend to stick to the speed limit and notice that mothers; fathers etc with kids in the cars fly past me..perhaps they are always in a huryy.. i also think that the way youngsters are taught to drive these days is totally inadequate - as cars can be such a lethal weapon and it appears that most young people think they are some sort of toy...i think there needs to be some serious changes in the system and bring back severe advertisements to help raise awareness.

Have you ever thought of the consequences of driving in such a manner ???,I thought not !!.
Obviously your attitude and behaviour dictate that you are eager to be a VICTIM of "road-rage".
May I ask how many times you have actually pist yourself when you were face to face with the Speed-demon,or have you always managed to slither away from trouble ?.
Who made you the enforcer ?.
Grow up,or be Vacuumed up.

Re:Sydney Drivers don't obey road rules Reply to this message
I agree, driving in Sydney you are taking your life in your hands.

BUT, when I look at the number plates on the VEHICLES they come from NSW, ACT, VIC, WA, QLD. The most courteous were the TAS plates as for SA, didn't come across them.

The worst trucks with QLD plates.

Try driving the F3, especially during peak hour. Who almost takes you out? the interstate trucks and the middle-age males and P-platers (males & females).

And the lack of indication. What do people think those blinking lights are for?

After being made to believe SA drivers the worst, I've changed my mind since reading the comments from other states. We obviously all have our share of immature, idiotic drivers. Impounding hoons' cars is a measure I agree with 100%. Crushing them wld be even better!!!
