Ever wondered why the crime rate in NSW seems to be on the decline across NSW for a whole range of crimes.
Well it seems to be that in our own little neck of the woods, NSW, crimes are not being logged by the police. You can report them till you're blue in the face but there seems to be a operational decision that crimes are not to be accounted for, written up or god forbid investigated. This means that when the statistics are compiled it never happened. Very convenient for those trumpeting falls in the crime rate. Hang on, now I see where those directives may be coming from.
No wonder people don't even bother to report crimes anymore. |

| Probably to do with the price of petrol, even the crooks can't afford to get to the jobs. |

| The simple explanation is that the Police are too busy investigating the Iemma Government's Crimes |

I don't think so, we don't have enough police for that. |

"This means that when the statistics are compiled it never happened."
Thats sounds very counter productive for the police to do such a thing.
We all know that policy makers and politicians LOVE stats and more often then not use them as a means to REDUCE police numbers.
I dont think people would want to be hearing that |

Area Commander could find nothing on computer relating to a stolen car that was reported 8 times.
It was not listed on as stolen on revs since about the 10th March when first reported - still isn't.
Others on asking whether anything was happening as to their reports have been told by police that they had nothing on it.
Police when called out routinely and this is not a question of lateness, they just don't turn up.
Local woman shopkeeper tackled a thief and after 30 minutes and 4 phone calls (station only a kilometre away) said in desperation a shot had been fired.
Then they turned up.
Then guess who was charged.
This is not a question of resources or manning although they do seem to have a stakeout of the Maccas drive through. I'm sure if the hamburglar shows up they'll have him bang to rights. |

anyone here read 'To Protect and To serve' by Tim Priest & Richard Basham?
During the Peter Ryan years, only 'arrests' count as a statistic in a crime rate. This was during the days of Cabramatta and it led to those frustrating problems. |

| I think you are right up to a point but you have to make a statement. You ask for the cops help and some like to help you but some others are ust lazy or just want to get their own ways. |

Police are entitled to exercise discretion in how they proceed in matters. However it should not be a selective application of the law. It starts to look very much like their are two laws.
If your house get's broken into I think most people would like and expect the police to do more than issue an incident number so they could claim their insurance, if they have any.
If they arn't intested then they should do something else, maybe work for the State tax office...in another area. |

| The job of the police, is to serve and protect the criminal element, The job of the court is togive minimal sentances to the criminals, and the job of the government is to protect the rights of both police and court, to serve the criminal element. |

| I think it might be better if the police STOP putting out media releases stating what suburbs/areas they are targeting, just go to these areas and DO WHAT YOU ARE EMPLOYED TO DO, Not 'cook' the books to suit. |

| Its very hard on the cops when they have the two system approch to crime. If you are WAS your done all the time but minority groups seem to get free passes to do what ever they like. Why do you think so many cops are bailing out, to much politics and the two system approch! |

Alternatively, the crooks might be getting better at their jobs and being caught less...
Technology advances may be altering the crime rates (nobody wants VCR's any more...)
Most likely, the quota is fulfilled for the specified crime. |

The police are so busy looking at driving misdemenours and collecting money for Iemma and his mates that they have no time left to investigate real crime. Now they are going to ban smoking in cars with kids and expect police to deal with that too! All real crime will be swept under the carpet as revenue raising becomes the only reason for the police's existence. God is your only source of assistance is you are raped, bashed, robbed or murdered...
"Ello, ello, ello! Sorry mate about your family being murdered... I was busy collecting $10 for Morris at the time!"
No doubt with the decrease in gambling revenue reported today, there will be even more new ways for the police being used to collect money for the greaseball in Martin Place invented before long.
How about...
Wearing odd socks $100.00
Voting liberal $10000.00
Voting National $100000.00
Coloured hair $500.00
non shiny bald head $500.00
and the list goes on...
How about a few demerit points for each of the above as well... they seem to take these off people for anything and everything these days whether you are at the wheel or not. |
