I’ll answer that.
1) wouldn’t you be if you lived in one of the most beautiful cities in the world with an amazing lifestyle?
2) Its not our fault other people are of lower intelligence, so we have to repeat things to them, slow and in a sarcastic way, so it may come across to the dumb person as being rude.
3) I work for my money, I’ll spend it on my self, I’m a selfish Sydneysider remember.
4) No we aint
5) Not really, we have great manners here, it could be worse, you could be in Perth
6) We wing about people winging about Sydney; if you don’t like it in Sydney, get out.
7) I don’t think so, Sydney aint the city with the highest crime rate. |

I totally agree with you..... I am a former Sydney-sider who has left.
I hate the egocentric attitude of many Sydneysiders. I hate how they think they are it and nowhere in the world can compare..... they have no idea.... Sydney is a dull, boring, dirty, racisit city and I am so happy to be out!!! |

Unless the occasion calls for it.
I am not violent, or am i arrogant.
There is nothing wrong with sydney, its a great city.

Nothing wrong with Sydney, it is the peoples attitude.
I hate it when they come up to QLD for a holiday and if it happens to be NYE, they say: "Geez, the fireworks in SYDNEY are SOOO much better" Well, WHY DID YOU COME UP HERE????

thats why u dislike them?
I go to QLD for NYE, and i loved it up there.
If thats the only gripe u have about them, then thats nothing.
Anyway why should it matter what city is the best?
Be happy where you are i reckon, im happy down here, and i love going to the gold coast for xmas etc. |

| In general people from Sydney are insecure and uncomfortable with themselves. That is why they live in big cities, surrounded by people. They must always be busy and buying to prove their importance. They are not comfortable in stillness and silence. They don't have the freedom to wear daggy clothes and lead a simple life because their stuff defines them. That is why they waste money, time and brain power worrying about what is 'in fashion'. They are not comfortable or very capable away from their technology and shops. I grew up in Sydney and lived there for the first 19 years of my life. I would never go back. It is a slaves life. Work, consume, die. Now I am free. Free to be poor and happy. It doesn't cost any money to walk through a forest but it sure does sooth the soul. To quote Micheal Franti "Only a rat can win a rat race". Think about it. |

I lived in the country all my life, it was great.
I moved to sydney to live with the man i love.
I have not and will not change.
But to say ALL people in sydney are like that, is saying that ALL country people are rednecks.
i think alot of people who bag out sydney, or people in it, just have had a bad association with a minority of the people in sydney. |

The people who say they hate Sydney are usually the ones who have never even been here. They call it a filthy dirty city, so they obviously they haven’t been tomany cities around the world, Sydney is a lot cleaner. They call it dangerous and violent, yet in the amount of years I have lived here I have never personally been attacked or know anyone personally to have been attacked, but I know a lot in Perth who have. Also, Sydney is not the Australian City with the highest crime rate. People say its too expensive – go live in Europe and then tell me Sydney is expensive, if Sydney was too expensive to live in then 4 million people wouldn’t be living here already with more and more coming every day.
Sydneysiders aint rude, they just get annoyed with people who have never been here bagging it out or thinking they know everything about living here, when at most they where probably here on a holiday.
Its still the best city in the world that I have lived in. |

Sydney is a busy place, but I think people confuse this for a bad place. People work hard and run around living a very busy lifestyle. This shouldn`t be confused with being bad.
The city of Sydney is a great place to visit. I like to do a lap of Darling Harbour, grab some lunch and take a walk through looking at all the water features. Then I jump on the monorail, do another lap around the shops walk down the Circular Quay and watch some of the funny buscers on the peirs.
I then like to jump on the Manly Ferry, watch the city from the water while all the ships and sailing boats pass by. I like to have a look at all the small beaches on the coast as I make my way up to Manly. On arrival another quick lap around the shops then some afternoon tea on Manly beach, watching the surfers riding the waves.
At the end of the day, catching the ferry back to Darling Harbour and driving back home to Kiama.
I love that I can visit Sydney, because there`s alot to do there, and I can do it in a day trip from home.
Although I wouldn`t really want to live in there, I still think it`s a great place to visit!
Yes it has racists, yes there are fights, but that`s a minority! There`s far more positive things than negative about Sydney!
It`s just how you decide to look at the big picture! |

| opmmul, You have had this chip on your shoulder regarding Sydney for some time now and quite frankly, its geting tired. Sydney is a BIG CITY and as such will have more than its fair share of a$$holes just like any big city does. But as someone who lived in Sydney for 5 years and worked in a service industry for all of that time, including the 2000 Olympics,I must say that there are plenty of good people in Sydney. With a negative attitude like yours I'm not suprised that you only saw the bad side of the city and its people. |

I am sorry to hear you did not feel comfortable being yourself in Sydney. I have had no trouble.
Your complaint about Sydney can be aimed at a lot of major cities and even smaller ones. I do agree that the problem, today, is the pursuit of money!
What I love about Sydney is the broad variety of activities to suit most people - the social butterflies, the bushwalkers, the yachties, the music lovers, the shopaholics, those who enjoy lazy weekends with friends (thanks to the weather!) or alone with a good book! and anyone else I failed to mention.
The close proximity to beaches, mountains & forests, historical towns (seeing as how most of our historic buildings in Sydney have been torn down to make way for eyesores!)
I suppose every city has its good and bad points - so why should Sydney be any different! Nowhere can be perfect!!!!!
I am just sorry that there are those who are blinkered to Sydney's better side. |
