| I have been involved in the department of child protection for the last 16 months as a kinship carer for my partners granddaughter i spent the first few weeks in the hospital caring for her then took her home with me as cps was involved in the case from the day she was born and we told them we would care for her until her mother was seen fit to look after or forever we seen her case worker the day after she came home over the next 16 months the case worker changed a total of 5 times over the 16 months cps came to the home about 6 times they never visit. about 3 weeks ago i had to go out of the country for a family member was dying so i left baby with a trusted realitive that had been cleared by the department to look after her at any time the day i left i called cps to inform them where the little girl was staying they seemed ok with that less than 24 hours after we left they called to say they wanted to come and check up on the little one that was ok they arrived about lunch time two men from the department and informed the family that they were there to collect baby and her belongings and take her into fostercare because they had information that i was taking her out of the country(its not that simple you need a passport and a ticket booked for that) and clearly me and my partner were already out of the country while this was happening i came home 2 weeks later as i had the funral ect and now every time i call the case worker is out of the office or unavailable and when they did call they told me that i am no longer her carer and i have no right to be informed about her as i am nothing to her i raised this baby for 16 months and looked after her every need and love her more than you can imagin and now i am nothing because i am not a blood realitive my partner is beside himself and has no trust for the system is there anyone that has been in a simler situation and had a positive outcome or any help would be apreciatated i dont know what to do anymore.......thank yo ... |

| also in the past 2 weeks baby has been in care she has changed homes twice when there are a number of family members that are wanting to look after her how is this fair this little girl is with strangers the person that is suffering most is the little girl she has been STOLEN by a cruel justice system and all i ask is i wonder if when the case worker goes home can he sleep at night cause we cant i am no drug addict and i dont drink and have no crimnal record ....there are many children that need help by the system but this is not one of them... |

No magic answers but you can try the Community Advocate if you arent getting any joy from Care and Protection. Failing that, try your member of parliament - go for someone like Jaqui Burke as she isnt afraid to take on the govt.
