| I've never bought a hamper...what is in them? Are they worth it? I have always liked to shop for my ingredients for my special holiday dinners...just to make sure everything is fresh and what I need...how can I get a catalog with pictures and info? |

Qld country credit union does Christmas accounts. Choice ran a story about hampers. They work out dearer than shopping yourself. Where as a Christmas account you get interest.
If your bank doesn't do Christmas accounts you can still have a sub account for anything you like to save for, including christmas. |

My Mrs. used to get the hampers a few years back, but gradually we came to realise that they are just chock-full of really bad junk food. Most of the stuff you don't normally eat just hangs around in the pantry until one day you go "Gee why don't we just stuff our faces with a whole box of chocolate almonds?" Then you're packing on the kilo's and back on the treadmill by January.
No no Chrisco NO! |

| Seriously, think of the people that shift work and cannot get to the shops or those who are incapacitated and quite literally cannot go shopping. These hampers were setup for these reasons initially and have since spread to everyday people. The extra charge is happily paid by those ordering, to have someone go shopping, buy the food, store it and then deliver it to their door in time for festivity as it takes the hassle and rage out of "the christmas time chaos" that we see in every store at that time of year |

i have never had a problem with chrisco....nor have i heard of any problems with chrisco until this year.
Chrisco (and their Castle subsidiary) will ALWAYS have problems for reasons I won't detail here, however some customers seem o go for years without a hitch whereas others get nothing but trouble. I'm surprised that mexicans are already getting deliveries becauze hey won't start in the deep north til next weekend. |

Somehow I don't think many people will be ordering Chrisco Hampers next year,
Business appears to be down a bit but its still a much bigger business than most realize. This year alone thee will be well over ten million hampers delivered in Australia & at least half that in kiwiland. BTW, Chrisco & Castle are one and the same company, only the box colours are different. |

| i agree you would be better off putting the money aside and then going shopping yourself, would even be able to make a little with the bank interest. my only issue with this and it is a big one, how many of you out there would (1) be able to actually put the money aside or (2) not raid the account throughout the year for those little expenses you forgot about. |

IGA have a system whereby you bank say $10 a week [you pick a figure]into their xmas club and you get to spend it next xmas. I think that's a better deal because you won't get ripped off with the expensive prices and you get to spend on their specials etc.
Not everyone shops there of course, but it's also a good way to drum up business. I don't know if others do it |

Didn't get a brochure from them this year...meaning what ?? )
Meaning that they had so many customers who spent more than your pittance that they decided to send brochures to the big spenders |

Wouldn't everybody be better off by putting the Chrisco money aside during the course of the year, then go shopping at Christmas for the food that you really want and need at a fair price?
Wouldn't everyone e better off with a sensible car rather than a stupid fourby, just goes to show intelligence isn't required to be human |
